Mr Warren I am a painter who has become recently obsessed with bonsai and what you said about the distribution of energy has struck me like a revelation thank you

First time viewer and that was brilliant. I’m a couple of years into keeping bonsai and that was hugely beneficial to me. Helped me understand where I might be making mistakes and with a deeper understanding of trees and energy I can help them get the energy they need Thank you

Glad it was useful. Thats what we are aiming for. It gets referred back to in future streams

Just found your channel on youtube. Peter, the way you share your knowledge is like no other. I have never seen anyone explaining the energy concept in the trees like you did here.. I love your approach. Thank you

Excellent stuff, I have a scientific background too and I appreciate this form of discussion, especially abstracting it like this so that it provides a general principle to guide our bonsai practice. Great work and thanks you!

Cheers. It can be a bit difficult when trying to visualise whats going on. Bonsai exists in that space between science and art, logic and feel.

@@saruyamabonsai well put, it took me a decade of reading, thinking, and practicing to begin to be able to balance the energy of my bonsai to achieve the aesthetic I had in mind. Thank you again for sharing a distillation of your knowledge and experience 🙏

If you haven’t already, read the Tao of Physics. Without that book I wouldn’t be doing bonsai

Peter: Love your training style and I will be a paying subscriber when you roll out your program. I am in Canada The most southern part of Ontario. Last fall I styled a Scots Pine and left it in the nursery Pot. I fear I made a mistake in re-potting it 2 weeks ago. The tips of the needles are turning brown but the buds seem to be holding on. this is why I want to join your group, I understand your thought process, where as others no so much. Does my pine have any chance of survival? Can you advise after the fact? Thanks
@saruyamabonsai4 жыл бұрын
Scots pines are pretty robust and as long as the buds are doing well then you have a chance of it surviving. Put it in a spot that is out of any stressful environment, wind, heat, cold. Don’t kill it with kindness(water/fertiliser) and pray to all of the gods

Aye, its an issue with the LED lights and webcam. We are trying to sort it out. Which tree? The one I am keeping for ever? :)

very clever that graphic energy storage explanation! I'm wondering if I do not pluck needles on summer and pluck then only in final auntumn in development JBP can induce to more backbudding. what do you think?
@saruyamabonsai4 жыл бұрын
Ryan Neil / Bonsai Mirai have done some great videos on JBP. Basically to induce back budding you want to generate as much energy as you can in the growing season and then when the tree is redistributing the energy, you cut back hard and force the energy to come out in other places.

On the energy graph. January and December schould come together for the next year. What is happening in between?
@joanlacet89614 жыл бұрын
did it party too much on New Years eve?
@saruyamabonsai4 жыл бұрын
@@joanlacet8961 It is just a tool to visualise what is happening in the year, an abstraction rather than a measurement. All "data" is arbitrary.
@joanlacet89614 жыл бұрын
@@saruyamabonsai That is not the point. The graph should end on de same level where it started, especially when it is not real data.
@saruyamabonsai4 жыл бұрын
The whole point of the discussion is that trees end the year with more energy than they start with, rather than return to the same point. Through techniques that we apply, defoliation, for example, then we can reduce the overall gain, but there should always be an overall gain.
