Energy Recuperation | MINI How-To

Learn in this video how to optimally use recuperation in your MINI Electric. When decelerating in your electrified MINI, the power is regenerated and the high-voltage battery is being charged. With a released accelerator pedal, the deceleration is similar to braking. The battery is partly charged back up again by this recuperation when the car is in motion, the selector lever position D or R is engaged and the accelerator pedal is barely operated or not operated at all. Recuperation efficiency can be adjusted by switching the toggle up or down. With high level recuperation activated, your car decelerates powerfully with more power regeneration. With low level recuperation activated, your MINI decelerates less powerfully, and less energy is fed back into the battery.

So, in other words no brake-pedal-integrated regen like almost every other EV on the road? I can understand this from Tesla due to their cut-costs-to-the-bone policy but it needs to be added to the Mini at some point.

There's no way to turn it off, but with Bimmercode you can change a lot of the default values.

Why would you ever want the higher level of recuperation off?

Bcs with an experienced electric driver you can get better range without it...

Is it possible to see what regen level that the car is set to by looking at the display panel? It shows a messge when the regen is changed but it looks like the driver needs to check the toggle switch LED down on the center console to see the status. It is important to check what regen mode is selected because after a long time at a fixed speed, the driver needs to know what the pedal lift-off response will be.

idk if there is that feature, but that would be really nice! perhaps (and hopefully) it'll be in future models if it isn't in the car as of now.

If you look at your yellow regen bars on LCD screen it will only show one bar for low level and both bars for high regen. Or just look at the toggle switch and see if it's illuminated or not.
