@@thisissupposedtobeanonymous I don't share many ideals that Bush has, and yes his presidency was filled with a number of mistakes that were brought to light years later (and many on both sides agree he did steal the 2000 election thanks to SCOTUS and Gore deciding to put the country over himself). I do admire his relationship with most of the former presidents, vice-presidents and their spouses. I do not agree with his keeping silent when it comes to the rhetoric and divisiveness that Trump and MAGA have employed and have used social media to push to the forefront. I digress on this as I've sort of swayed off the main topic a tad 😅. I'm old enough to have been following politics before social media was a thing. I never really got into it and honestly I'm still not fully engaged with it, especially for politics and as a main source of news. I'll be 40 at the end of the month for the record. I didn't get a cell phone until I was 18 and headed off to university. A few months later I got rid of it and didn't get another until I was nearly 23. Trump started this whole thing of attacking and lying about the truth and it has greatly divided the two sides as now EVERYTHING is looked at as a left vs right issue. It is pure craziness. Obama vs McCain was still pretty civil and even Obama vs Romney was that way (more or less) as far as the politicians. Legacy media hasn't helped in recent years and now the tech bros stuff has driven it into overdrive. Remember when Trump was set to ban TikTok? Now he wants to save it as they made it work for him so he sees it as a great tool. AI is going to make things even worse as we have seen the beginning of that, which is scary to think about. And now presidents have almost total immunity, yikes. I am a Canadian and I'm not at all happy with the 51st state BS all over social media. No president is ever perfect, but the way Trump tries to smear those who came before and after him is un-presidential. Even Nixon wasn't besmirched by his successors the way Biden and Obama have been by Trump. So I agree, but perhaps I'm a bit more towards the left than you might be. I gave Trump a chance when he was elected in 2016, but he didn't do anything that truly helped the majority of America. And his blusterings right now have me fearing it is going to be a financial bloodbath for all of North America with the tariffs he refuses to back down on.

And considering this somber occasion, no one wanted to make a fuss about said protocol because it wasn't about personal problems. The point was to be there to pay respects to President Carter. Since Michelle wasn't there, Barack landed that seat fair and square since he handed the white House over the DJT. But I found it refreshing to see them share a cordial exchange considering the past comments they've made about each other. I really love how they all snubbed Trump leaving him sitting there watching everybody else shake hands. And to top it off, Obama wouldn't have even talked to him if Trump hadn't forced the conversation on him.

1. Obama stands to let Bush by, and also likely out of respect. Trump sits like an oaf. 2. Bush totally ignores Trump! hhahahah
@grandmaida78197 сағат бұрын
Ikr. Never see trump stand from sitting. Wonder if he has arthritis which he doesn't want showing til after the inauguration. Guessing but even after that one rally when he had to walk down those few steps, looked like maybe signs of it. Not uncommon @ that age but wonder of its severity.
@JoyfulSaturn-cz2ui17 сағат бұрын
Trump was pretty much ignored by everyone but Obama. Just goes to show how fair of a man Obama is and Pence was fair too. I dig how Gore smiled the whole time. He lost to Bush and became ultra rich...and got an Academy Award to boot. The whole funeral was dignified for a dignified man.
