That pretzel shop was definitely an Auntie Anne's. You can tell by the decor. When I lived in Enfield we went to the old movie theater on Hazard Avenue next to the Suburban Mall. My old history teacher Mr. Bowman used to manage it.

I also thought it was Auntie Anne's because of the decor of the architecture. Sad to see it like that.

It was also Wetzel Pretzel. And the old movie theater was Cine Enfield 8.

It's so wild to see that the Gamestop is still there. I opened that store up back in 1997, when it was still Funcoland. They actually let us put the logo on the outside of the mall. Wonder if it's still there.

I loved that Funcoland SO much, me and my Dad use to visit at least 6 times a year coming down from Vermont, we used to drive hours just to go to Funcoland stores. That store was the main reason we used to stop in Enfield. I can still picture the entire layout so clearly, those massive racks of NES and SNES games in the middle of the store that we would paw through for an hour. It devastated us when it converted to a Gamestop

That crystal store called the moon crystal was a store that moved from the Hampshire mall. If you go back to your video on that mall, you can see the same store in there. I actually had a chance to talk to the owner on there last day by pure chance as they were packing up. I asked if they were closing down for for good and they told me they were moveing to the Enfield mall. I'm happy they found someplace else to do business, but I also remember think moving to the Enfield mall is a bad idea

The Macy’s Men’s Store used to be a two-floor JCPenney. Filenes leased the lower level after JCP closed and completed a major renovation, including the removal of the escalator. Macy’s converted the Filenes nameplate soon after, in 2006. The upper level was completely closed off, without customer access. The space was used throughout the years by the Town of Enfield Police for K9 training and remained poorly maintained due to it being a completely isolated space. When Macy’s closed in 2015, the department store continued to perform preventative maintenance on their Main Store, as a Macy’s-owned separate parcel from the mall, until a couple of years later, when Mason Asset Mgmt (a Namdar subsidiary) bought the Main Store building at the same time as the mall’s foreclosure auction.

The current owner of this mall doesn't not have a good track record for how they treat the malls they own. Only in it for what they can get out of it. As soon as they give up on this place, it's done.

Reminds me of Eastfield Mall when a few mom/pop stores entered to try and salvage what was left. We saw those results this year 😓😰 Everything is contingent on Target, and how the town wants to go about the rest of the property going forward.

You have been able to see thru the gate of the former Sears for a while. I don't recall it ever being curtained or blocked off.

Spent a lot of time there in the '70s. My sister's best friend Eva used to be a hairdresser at the salon at the J.C. Penney's.

I saw that integrity martial arts is in that space at the Enfield Square Mall they moved from the Scitico Plaza in Enfield to the Enfield Square Mall.

Smaller malls in Connecticut are just bleeding out at this point. Closure is imminent for places like this, Meriden, and Waterford.

The Cinemark movie theater will close in early December. Doesn't look like the mall will survive the decade.

I agree. No way is it surviving the decade. I'm surprised it's survived as long as it has. My bet would be it closes in the next three years. Let's check back in 3 years to see if my guess was correct.

That Lia storefront used to be Walden Books back in the day and the store on the very end with an outside entrance on the left was Radio Shack. The PVTA bus stop used to be right there by the Radio Shack. Also, the Cinemark has always had stadium seating. I remember seeing Kill Bill, Gangs of New York, and Shawn of the Dead there 20 years ago and they had stadium seating. The theatres on Hazard Ave didnt have stadium seating.

I heard that the Cinamark at the Enfield Square Mall is closing for good near the beginning of December 2023. It's super sad to see a movie theater close that I saw Taylor Swifts eras tour in. RIP

Where ruby Tuesdays was there was a arcade back in the 80s until the early 90s called Tilt it was the hangout spot. I was here at target a few weeks ago and man this mall was dead only thing keeping it relevant the movie theater and target.

Until the news report I wasn't aware this place was even still open. It's been a dumpster fire for a long time. If the Chamber of Commerce store has closed down...the place is in trouble. When Bath and Body Works goes, just turn the lights off. It's done.

The mere existence of a "Chamber of Commerce store" is a fairly good indicator of a near-dead mall. So is a church.

...and the Kebab/Kabob place near the main entrance. So 4 places bring in people. If the Target has a parking lot entrance/exit, I feel that most that enter Target from the mall shop to pass through and exit into the parking lot (once again IF this Target exits out into the parking).

The Macy's Men's Store was the old G. Fox. I'd say the Enfield Mall will last maybe 3 years. The GNC is out.. I'd raise the anchor stores, then maybe creat a Local mall, like getting entrepreneurs to create stores or wholesale businesses in it.

This place when it opened was sad and dumpy. And it only went downhill from there. Most of your videos for other malls there will be a lot of comments like "I used to love this place.", "It was a great place to hang out when I was a kid", etc..... Malls are dying I lease out land to a mall and I don’t even shop there I would rather by online I’m 36 malls were fun as a kid and a teenager just my opinion I enjoyed this episode thanks

Man i'll miss this place when it closes, but there's no saving it in its current state. It's a fire death trap waiting to happen and the owners are content not doing anything to fix it. Unless things turn around it's going soon.

Honestly I feel Eastfield should have stayed open and this be closed. I know two different companies but... this is prime real estate for Enfield. A shame they can't get another anchor in there.

First off you don’t have stores that would appeal to people here,but fact of the matter IMO is you don’t have the clientele. Older people are not spending the little bit of money they have at the mall and young people aren’t going there to buy stuff when they can shop online. Target,the movie theater and possibly Game Stop are the only places seeing traffic. The days of Sears & Macy’s are long gone with your grandparents and there’s too many other options. The best bet would have been a casino/hotel. Mall’s are an antiquated concept. It’s why so many are in bad shape and closed or closing. The area is actually big enough to build a ball park (like the Yardgoats Dunkin Donuts park) as the Enfield Mall at 788,000 square feet makes it the 10th largest in the State.

March 2021: EAST WINDSOR, CT - Three years after demolition of the former Showcase Cinemas complex in East Windsor, the Tribal Winds casino planned for that location has been put on hold for at least 10 years, thanks to a new gaming agreement announced Thursday by Gov. Ned Lamont and representatives of the Mohegan and Mashantucket Pequot tribes. The only reason that went that far was an attempt to stem the flow of people from heading the MGM in Springfield. It was never going to happen. Enfield would have been more of the same.
