Please do more shows like that ! One factor that is keeping crowd numbers down is cost - it is bloody expensive to take a family out for a day of motor racing ,it isn't just the cost of admission there's food and drinks etc etc so some just stay at home and watch it on tv .

The one i hate, is the compulsory tyre change, and fuel stops... it's Car racing, not Pit Crew Racing..
@Saxdude19842 жыл бұрын
@@graemejohnson9025 The issue is that it's difficult for the cars to pass each other, so they add pit stops to make it 'exciting'. I gave up watching as it reminds me of formula one, and that's why I gave up watching formula one. I don't care what the top speed of the vehicles is: I just want the cars to be able to race each other outside of the pits.

The Drivers were also elevated because of more Tv exposure such as V8 superstars with bill woods. Network 10 back in the day really amplified Motorsport and V8’s in this country in the 90’s and 00’s with great commentary, insight and TV programs like RPM etc. it offered more accessibility. We don’t get that in this day and age.

Although the cars are different now compared to 2014 as Murph said & Russ said last year, maybe people might understand now just how much different it was also for Ambrose to come back to different cars
@winzracingNZ2 жыл бұрын
Ha. Although I love Ambrose.. These cars are IRS and different centre of roll etc etc... Nascar was still live rear diff etc etc. The comparison is fair enough, but also kind of not the same. But, again.. Ambrose had many races to get to grip with it... Murphy is now a hundred years old, same as Ambrose. Better comparison would be Ambrose getting back in car today and giving it a nudge. He may surprise. He is capable. But then, reckon 2m08s would be a great result...

Second best show so far. Let's not forget that the winning Monaros were driven to the track in 68 and 69. In the mid 70s both HDT and Moffat racing were trailer racers. There should be more emphasis on the privateer teams. Now it is only BJR and the wild cards, but some, like the Captain, Lansvale Smash Repairs and Murray Carter put in credible performances year after year. One privateer team with a top tier main driver - Chickadee, won the damned race! I stayed away through the contrived Group A days, but was there in the born again mid nineties. Lastly, RIPGMH! After 54 years the Mountain Lion is extinct. I started with a V8 Holden (HK Prem) and I'll finish with my current V8 Holden (WN II Caprice). For the sake of all race fans keep Bathurst a uniquely Australian event. If we are to run Camaros and Mustangs, why not commemorate the 100th anniversary of Ford and GM in in Australia? Make 2025 the year of the Mustang to reflect the opening of the Geelong plant in 1925 and 2026 can be for the Camaro as GM signed on with Holden and Frost in 1926.

Ok, Folks, Just make sure to pass on the main messages from this show, particularly from Russell Ingall, to your kids: Hate all of your competitors (Opponents?). Remember, never talk to them, & definitely no signs of friendliness (That's WEAK!). Also, it's not about "Sport", it's all about MONEY! Because, after all, it's purely entertainment!! As a side note, it seems to be forgotten that Will Brown publically invited Mark Winterbottom to come down & have a conversation re the Pukekohe prang. Barry Ryan, & others, seems to have selective amnesia in this instance. Anyhoo, you've finally lost me with this show. Given the main theme running through this episode in particular, perhaps you need to start some much more Gladiatorial "Sport", to satisfy your bloodlust/need for biffo etc. And yes, I will watch the door on my way out, thanks for the kind thought!

So was Adderton wrong??? Dane was always about business $'s over racing & fans, not all managers with passion for the sport have his gift of the gab for getting it. My Uncle is Bob Stevens (Racing), original trailer racer + more. Back in the 90's, I could tell you who the top 5 finishers were, wouldn't miss a championship race. These days I push myself to watch Bathurst, struggle to remember who came 1st yesterday, think it was SVG, who like others is off to USA, along with many SC fans, where it's not so anal pc. Cochrane was a big loss.

I seriously believe that Supercars as a whole needs to be reworked, the whole structure and support categories need to be looked over. The s5000 category in itself should be a shining light in Australian Motorsport and not relegated to 20 lap races here and there. Why not bring back some of the Indy feel on the Gold Coast and give them a feature race alongside the "Supercars". As for the "Supercars" as you guys and many others talk about is the rivalry is lacking, why is the heirachy at Supercars so scared of showcasing drivers having disagreements and battling it out when this is what we and I believe the drivers need. They tend to fabricate these rivalries and the drama yet are the first to shut down anything that gets too heated. The fabricated rivalries feel forced and cheesy plus I don't see how it's a problem to show the heat of the moment dramas between drivers who many have been fighting for a place on the grid with each other since they were 5+ years of age literally fighting for their livelihood of being a Supercar driver. Sorry for the rant, I'm just a young fan who is fed up with swing the path that we are going down with the Supercars name.
@scottjenkins84142 жыл бұрын
If Supercars want to get fans back, get rid of parity! My old man gave up watching and attending races 25 odd years ago due to the conga-line "racing" it has become. I much prefer to watch Improved Production or TCM's as they are actually racing each other. All the cars of today, if you take the panels off, are IDENTICAL underneath. Camaro comes with a 6.2L (455HP)engine, Mustang comes with a 5.0L (480HP) engine. Nominate certain parts that can be changed or upgraded (NOT to identical control parts that are not native to that manufacturer), no aero packages, define upper and lower limits on physical dimensions & suspension, etc. AND then we will see GOOD racing and fans coming back! Just my thoughts anyway.

@secretsquirrel97222 жыл бұрын
Great show but why do you change your tune as soon a RD comes on? Hmm, I wonder? All of a sudden, racing is going to be great under gen3? I have to completely disagree with your sentiments about having to sell it because it's what you have! Like once again, as Peter was saying! We've been lumped with something that is making a very small percentage of people a ton of money. While simultaneously ensuring those same people maintain their dominance at the pointy end of town. Trying to tell us we need to "make the best of what we've got". Is a load of horse excrement! They were given a clean sheet start, literally years ago. They had every opportunity to build a car and a series to reignite race fans. Of course the coercion of the powerful and the inadequacy of the other to grow a pair has ended in a long drawn out road to a car no one cares about, is far to complicated, with to many loopholes, that costs way to much with far too much aero! Snooze fest! The reason drivers don't have a go anymore is because you can't follow in the wake. So you have a decision to make. Stay where you are and bank points for another day. Or, if you're out of the championship, take the bin in or win it approach. Knowing the other will likely side step you. So they can bank points. If there was more contenders than just 888. You might see some elbows out. The whole category is a joke! It's been dying a slow death from it's fan base and i see nothing that's even attempting to slow that down! There is a reason Fox will never release it's viewing data year on year. I didn't bother watching a single race other than Bathurst this year. But I entered a work pool for the championship places. Guess who's top of the pops in the pool at present = me. That's how boring and predictable it is! If there wasn't weather at Bathurst, it would have been a precession! Almost no passing under Green. I'm normally a placid, optimistic person but I'm so sick of being fed sh#t and being told it's chocolate by modern sports that don't listen to the overwhelming view of their fans!
@formulafish15362 жыл бұрын
I must be one of the few people that knows the drivers. And that’s only because I watch every week. I love the Erebus boys, Jimmy Golding, and a few of the others. But the biggest issue is exactly what Peter said. They’re all woke. They are too cookie cutter PR spinners, those guys included. Shane gets traction because he is divisive, Craig got his traction because of Brock, and his persona. But most drivers that were well known were either incredibly successful, or divisive.
@MegaROCKY0012 жыл бұрын
The show was fantastic. I must ask when you guys are really going to get fairdinkum with the tough questions. 1What is wrong with the sport? 2 How is it fixed? Gen3 is great however it will yield the same it is part of the cure but it is not cure. First ask what transpired in the past to create today Supercars issues of crowd attendance. The answer is that if you ignore the fan you will kill the sport. How has the fan been denied? There is a massive following of fans that are angry at the finish of free to air tin top racing. They have children and they have children. We have now had a generation grow up without seeing (Forget Supercars that is corporate crap branding) the Australian Touring Car championship rounds. You guys are banging on about silenced drivers and lack of personality or characters in the sport. The sport is a reflection of wider society. They silenced and de nutted the Aussie male 25 years ago so you aren't going to have a paddock full of characters besides the corporation handing out cash other than the odd couple will not tolerate any larrikin behaviour so sponsors and the wider media will not have it. So forget that. Ticket prices are out of control! Rounds like Sandown where the last race started ( I was there) somewhere around 5pm....that's 5pm on Sunday race day in Melbourne. It was utterly freezing and I know Suoercars control the announcers including good old Larko but not the weather. But they do control the race program. The amount of people headed home at 430pm on Race day before the last race was unbelievable. For goodness sakes .....do I really need to say anymore about southern Victoria and the temperature in any month other than but January to February at 5pm! The fix 1Free to air! 2Ticket prices 3Race schedule climate/temperature applicable 4 Get rid of that Baird, his inconsistency is mind boggling. 5 Truely being in Transparency....stop the corporate gagging. Stop using poor old Larko for the hard sell to win fans over on bullshit stewards decisions that are bullshit Frosty should punched that poor excuse for a teem manger right in the head. Frosty did nothing wrong. He didn't cause the incident and stood accused by Story and Brown falsely. Now back to the idiot Cheif Steward. Why did Frosty get 15 seconds penalty? I would say the damage is done. Quietly I would say it is the elephant in the room because Fox broadcasting rights, and who is going to say we must go back to free to air. Free to will open up sponsorship opportunities.
@neilperry22242 жыл бұрын
You need to start at the schools so the kids drive the parents to take them to the races. Also it'll give you the fans for the later years and the battery cars. I've been watching the races for the last 8 yrs and in the 90s in the uk, stuck in Scotland with the mad red head! I think that the previous drivers and those that followed them are bloody hypocritical and now due to PC/biege people. I think that some of the drivers will drive each other of the track , but then moan n bitch and blame the other driver for taking him out of ghe race. I remember Van Gisbergan moaning about Loundes hitting his car. Then he does to others, also frostybollox moaned about being driven off the road a nd then he does himself, he'd make a fecking sail. As a series I think you've got to push the drivers out there into the public arena, stop this looking back at the old days . You've need to use the different media available, Instagram, twitter,Facebook, etc.
