Both of them are true artist. Not just pretty face and cool moves. They know themselves, they know their music very well and they know what their supporters like. They aren't just idols, they are true musicians who knows what they do. I am not a fan of Rap and party songs but I believe that they are awesome in their fields of expertise. T.O.P's lyrical knowledge is so complex, sad but beautiful.

And THIS is why GD and Big Bang's songs are so freaking GOOD. Kwon Jiyong is a fucking GENIUS. I swear, "Heartbreaker," "GD&TOP," and "Tonight" are some of the best albums on my iPod. I NEVER get tired of listening to those albums. I just don't understand how Jiyong understands music so well. The way Jiyong (and TOP too) talk about their album amazes me. I'm so impressed. But it just reaffirms why G-Dragon is one of the best, if not the best, in the K-pop music industry right now.

This was very interesting. With this interview I realized why I love Big Bang and their music so much. While I love other K-Pop groups like SHINee, Super Junior, and etc, I really think of them more as performers. However, Big Bang I think of more as artists. GD in particular impresses me with the amount of thought and hard work he puts into the creation of his and his group's songs/albums. I hope he and the others continue to follow their dreams and love music as much as they obviously do now.

This is why they're not catagorized as "idol" they're the artist, they showed their talent in writing music, producing, esp. GD, who I believe was born with that gift as well as other skills he learned since he was still a trainee, through ups & downs to get where they are now...no more to say...I FUCKING LOVE THEM!

Are you Korean? I'm Korean and when I read GD's lyrics, I'm always amazed by his eloquence. Even for such simple scenes, he writes them beautifully and more complex, giving the song a heavier feeling in my opinion. I especially love the rap lyrics because you can fit so much more within the same four beats, lets say. The words he chooses, the figurative language, etc. is very clever (also how he magically makes them rhyme). My personal fave is But I Love You.

It matters a bit where you're from because it can influence your perception of his lyrics. For example, if you don't understand Korean, you're never going to be able to fully appreciate his lyrics because you'll only have English translations. I am in that boat. Big Bang makes me want to learn the language, though. And it's true, many of his songs are shallow. But he's also shown he's capable of writing very deep and unique music (Eg. "Monster", "Love Song", "Nightmare"). I could go on.

With KPOP on the rise and more idol groups with auto tune and electronic sounds, the emphasis on lyrics is decreasing, which I always find very sad. The lyrics are what completes the song and makes it wholly beautiful. No matter how beautiful the melody, if the lyrics aren't touching, then the audience doesn't really feel anything.

i'm taking his music seriously and giving him the proper credit he deserves. why do you have to be so critical? these idols are young but this is how they make their living. if you don't want to support them, at least don't bash them for making music that you don't like. if you don't like it cuz it's shallow, then don't listen to it. it's as simple as that. these idols prob don't even care about anti fans now but they gain strength from fans so i guess you're the one wasting your time, not me.

lol,most of BB's songs are anything but shallow.also it does matter whether you are korean or not before you can judge.if you know the langue you will understand the metaphors and can read between the lines.if you ain't then it mean you are living on translations and can't grasp the original/full meaning of the words which are sung/rapped in another langue then you own.sure BB have party songs,but even Tonight which seems about partying is actually a really sad song about longing and emptiness

And just like xbomtori said, whether you understand Korean matters because translations aren't accurate and can be misleading. One of a Kind is popular among Koreans right now because of its deep meaning..... so I don't know where you got your information from... And in this video, GD says he, as a writer himself, wants the listener to feel the story as a whole so he's not saying he's shallow O_O
