for the best french fries: cut the potatos a bit thinner than u did.. soak them in water and vinegar for a few minutes.. then fry them without any frying powder on them..it will be much better!

Nebom, a tip for the pastry dough! In order to prevent the sides from burning or ballooning up, make a solution of water and powdered sugar and apply it to the top of the pastry on the sides before baking. A thin layer is enough, best done with a brush of some kind. It gives moisture to the pastry, makes it very pretty and flakey, and gives a delicious flavor. The mixture should be on the watery end, you can even add some lemon juice for a bit of tang if you like!

You should blind bake your pastry (baking your pastry with no filling ) then once it’s slightly golden add your jam for the last 5 to 6 minutes before the end of the cooking time(I have a friend who is a pastry chef, she can cook other stuff but pastry is her main thing)
