I heard some Chinese fans were complaining about Xu Kai's acting in this one, said it was wooden. They didn't pay attention. He is acting like he is suppose to in this part. It was explained he wasn't emotional, and was cold and aloof...stoic. I just wonder about the intelligence of some of the fans. Love this actor and he should do a wonderful job if people will watch the whole thing and pay close attention to what is stated about the characters. I get so frustrated with these "Netizens" as they are being called.

I watched him The story of Yangtze Palace and he caught my attention . Then with Bailu as her leading lady and finished all the episode the chemistry was spot on and he is very charming.Then there’s one fantasy I forget the title not crazy (the lady was older than him and her character was little bit crazy ) about the drama but its Zucai and finished the whole episode since then I could hardly reached half I give up.It looks like this drama partly adaptation of the Journey of Flower which the leading man and the leading lady are excellent in this drama.Hopefully he will give justice of this character.So far it’s so so ,maybe I’m used to him to be funny and charming the lady’s.It is just an opinion no offense.

If you're wondering if you should watch this, YES, you should! Initially I had it on my "watch list" but then dropped it cause I didn't know if I could handle another centuries of waiting for love story. And Xu Kai and Zhou Dongyu didn't attract me at first. But after seeing clips on KZbin, I went back to give it a shot and I'm so glad I did! Both leads grew on me! If you enjoyed Love and Redemption, you will enjoy this as well! Cinematography is great! The story moved fast. Every episode kept me engaged. All characters played their roles well.

I watched Ancient love poetry before watching Love and Redemption. The character played by Tianqi in that drama(King Bailing) is the most cruel villian. In both drama, he is a god. Xu Kai looks so handsome in historical drama & it suits him. The “paper boy” that Qing Mu (Xu Kai) used in ep 18 , reminds me of the same paper boy that Wei Wu Xian (Xiao Zhan) used in “The Untamed”. The lightning punishment used - similar scenes in “Eternal Love”

I first watched Xu Kai in Arsenal Military Academy, then The Legends. Both dramas are now part of my top fave as the storylines are great as well. I just finished XK’s first modern drama Falling Into Your Smile and enjoyed the light and fun warmth the drama brings. Now, am excited to watch Ancient Love Poetry as it has glowing reviews in MyDrama List, others naming it a masterpiece at the level of Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms. And of course, XK’s acting is best in period dramas where he can portray the depths of the character.

I first saw Xu Kai as Fuheng in Story of Yanxi Palace. I liked him there so i watched Arsenal Military Academy. And he as Gu Yanzhen was his BEST role so far. Watched The Legends too. It was okay and I didn't even finished it.. until ep 39! Probably because of the story though i really love Xu Kai and Bai Lu. Watched Falling into your smile and couldn't dare to finish even the first few episodes. Probably because I don't really like video games etc.. Let's see if Ancient Love Poetry is a good one.. but so far i could really say, Xu Kai was at his best acting skills in Arsenal Military Academy. The story, OST, costumes and characters were perfect. He even got a Best Actor award from it. He definitely needs some dramas that would show his acting skills more :-)

This drama is so beautiful ❤️, I m currently watching 44th ep, and it's striking me that after five episodes it will be done 😭, I seriously fell in love with all the characters be it male or female 🥺🥺, such talented people plus story plot, the graphics used are nearly competing the Hollywood films, great job done by on and off screen members, 👍 I hope dey bring such amazing dramas more from this talented people and entertain us in future 😭❤️ I don't know why still in China they rated it so low and made the drama almost underated by insulting leads and directors, which was totally foolish and inhumane, are they mad or what 😔, I would recommend everyone to watch this drama The Roller Coaster ride of emotions 😭❤️, with Happy ending ❤️

Just finished this drama...OMG my eyes are bleeding from being glued to the screen for 49 episodes. I hardly ever binge Chinese dramas but this one grabbed me and wouldn't let me go. The two stories are totally engrossing. I used PTO once and left work after 3 hours to watch this drama. I neglected my family and didn't do any housework for a week. Yep it's that good. The male/fem leads are precious. I usually never care for the fem lead but she was endearing. Xu Kai well needs no words. The cast was great. I hated the villains and admired the good guys. The ending was better than most. don't whine about the ending remember the Great Queen Seonduk I cried for a month. I loved the CGI it was different more ethereal a lot like Ice Fantasy. I prefered QingMu to Baijue..Just sayin'..Hugs and Kisses from Texas

I love this drama the characters of Bai Jue and Shanggu were so well matched. And Huang Yi was amazing as Hongri. I saw him recently in Who Rules The World and he played a similar character which he is perfect for. He is still young but I see great things in his future. He's handsome, has a great presence, beautiful smile and I love his cute expressions. He's going to be a heartbreaker someday if he's not already. If I'm still alive in 7 - 10 yrs. I bet he will be as big as Xu Kai is. I also noted that the young son of Houchi and Quigmu was in WRTW also so I looked it up and saw both were produced by Yin Tao. He's also a talented producer of dramas that keep us watching his dramas over and over. I have seen Ancient Love Poetry 6 times in the last 4 months. This was a surprise drama for me, because I didn't it to be anything too good, but I felt it was probably like "ten miles of peach blossoms" or eternal love. So I started watching and to my surprise it hooked me from the first episode. I didn't sleep till it was finished. That's a lot of sleepless time for a 70 yr old. But it was worth it. I watch it now when I have just finished an intense drama that has held me in it's grip for days. It is such a beautiful love story that it never gets old. So to EVERYONE who made this drama possible THANK YOU!!!!! I loved the whole cast but was sad Yuemi wasn't brought back to life like Shanggu, but maybe there will be a sequel. I should say that this drama getting more interesting after 14 eps ,I almost dropped this as I thought the story was predictable and not really an eye grabber however when the story plots change at eps 17 it got me hooked and glad I didn't drop this I almost missed this must watched drama,it gives me an ashes of love and TMOPB feels and in some eps I almost forgot to breath😅it's so intense and interesting I was totally hooked.

I really love this drama ,,good acting ,story and CG, [guys the fL had a strong personality not a 6 years old kid ..I was looking for this thank god ] only the first 11 or 12 are slow with cuteness and may be boring to some but it get better and better after ,that after ep 19 ,I was so excited to watch as soon as possible I finished it ,at first cute fluffy then it get serious with good plot ,,,love it ,I watch it on another app As a recent Cdrama fan so to me this drama is very good and new,I already know xu kai(btw he is so cute and handsome) ,the female lead is cute and lovable her character not silly ,she is clever with strong personality , kind of relatable too ,not having the childish annoying voice
