11:20 Random value when opening/closing jaw Peakmeter PM2108 is NORMAL since it has "hall effect" sensors to measure (DC current) that will be affected by the earth's magnetic field or nearby other magnetic fields. Fluke F324, & Kyoritsu KEW2127R are AC only current meters.so they do not have any "hall effect" sensors.

Thank you for your clarification. I think the presence of the Hall Effect sensor was the reason why clamp meters with DC current functions have a zero reset button.

thank you for this, been eyeing on chinese made clamp meters like cem, uni-t and aneng that can read ac and dc current.

hi bro, i'am testing start motor about Kyoritsu 2127r and Fluke 381 about current measurement Kyoritsu 2127r use Peak current function Fluke 381 use inrush current function but why, the starting current is different (about 100 amp) // running current both are normal. Thank for reply 🙂

I appreciate your interest. I don't have a Fluke 381 so I can only rely on its online users manual. If I understand correctly, the Fluke 381 calculates the RMS value of inrush current waveforms during the first 100 milliseconds, where it takes 400 samples and calculates their True RMS value, then display it on the screen. When the KEW 2127R is used to test startup current of motors, you engage the Current Hold Peak Function. Imagine a series of analog sine waves. It detects which of them has the highest maximum value that lasted for at least 10 milliseconds then Holds it onscreen. If the next set of waves has a higher Peak it will update the value of the display. It will continue to do so as long as the KEW2127R is clamped on the conductor, even long after the motor has started. It just so happened that the startup sequence is where the highest current occurred, so the 2127R records it. As you may already know, for a pure sine wave, the Peak value of waveform is 1.414*RMS Value. Hence the Peak Value will always be higher due to the factor of 1.414. Assuming that both your 2127R and 381 did not malfunction, then both values should be different but correct. Both Peak and RMS Values have their uses. *But its important to be aware that the Fluke 381 measures inrush current synchronized with motor startup. In most cases, this True RMS Value is what's needed by motor protective devices* . For the KEW 2127R, its Hold Peak Function works not just for current but also for AC/DC voltage, which makes it useful for those device where the Peak value is important. If you have time, you may want to watch this video where I compared the KEW2127R with the Hioki 4376. The CM4376 is an AC/DC current clamp meter that can measure inrush current, with the notable ability to calculate and display both Peak Value and RMS Value of inrush current at the same time. Thank you for your support! kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYbahZl3aLKanKssi=NT96fBJdp_ZEVt3J

Great Video, very Informative contents. everytime, and also a very costly testers this time..😅 5 testers in 1 comparison video.. 2 kyoritso True RMS and averaging one, then , 1 fluke, 1 Hioki and 1 peakmeater. Salute to you brother, thanks for the efforts .

Thanks for your appreciation! And for noticing *all* the different clamp meters, particularly the KEW Snap 203 and the Hioki 4376, which were not even mentioned in the title but were used for demo anyway. 😄 Some of my test equipment indeed cost quite a bit, like my Hiok testers, but they were worth every cent. Good luck. Maraming salamat po!

Perhaps it should be mentioned what kind of safety features, for example fuses, would these brands have. The cheaper instrument may provide a similar voltage reading, but it will not have the proper fuse to save the instrument or your life in case of accident.

Thanks for your comments. You raised a good point on safety. I don't think these clamp meters though have over current protective fuses, since they measure current by induction and not by series connection. They do have voltage category ratings which must be followed for safety, and which I included in the video. I agree with you're idea that the more expensive device should be better in terms of the quality of its features.
