And Court Lady was basically the sequel to The Long Ballad. Same Emperor, and same Crown Prince that got taken advantage of by street performers, except the Crown Prince was a kid in TLB. I didn't notice that until I watched TLB again. I was wondering why the Emperor got so upset over his son hanging out with musical performers & commoners.

Just finished this fabulously awesome historical and romance drama! It has everything a heart desires in a good series. It also has tremendous moral stories of cause and effect, loyalty, betrayal and family honor. Li Yitong, you were awesome in this series, you really shined through and carried the drama through your wit, wisdom, and beauty . Xu Kai, you were always keeping us in the edge of our seats, a perfect leading man, and so handsome. The supporting cast were awesome and made the whole series shine. I will put this into my 'most favorites' basket to watch again. Like Grace says "I have no regrets at all...just WOW!!!😊 Everything about this was beyond amazing. Will never be the same. Almost everything started after Chu Mu wished to marry Fu Rou. Finally they got married!!!👯👯 The excitement in Chu mu's father on the wedding day, How Yan Zi Fang stopped being a pirate, How Lu Yun Ji and Fu shui got punished.... Well this is was the happy ending I wished for. (Wish the late Queen was still alive) Lots of love to all. Thanks for the subtitles. Hoping for another drama with the same cast in the near future🤩

Enjoyed this series very much but would have liked more dialogue between Fu Rou and Shu Mu. Would have liked to have known why he suddenly decided to talk to her after blaming her for Princess Consort death and also would have liked to have heard at least some of the “cave reunion” where they made up completely. They did have the absolute best kiss ever in one episode.

What a drama. Complete package. The ep. 54 and early of 55 were such a breathtaking climax. With the soundtrack that is too painful to hear along with the cries of Chu Mu. Too hard to bear. Yet the ending of them are so satisfying especially Yan Zi Fang and Lu Ying Ying. Oh, I hope there's another more drama like this. Kudos to admin. Thanks a lot for the English subs. This series was sooo great. I love how it was full of love, hate, revenge and redemption. The ending I think was particularly good. Fu rou and chu ling got married and yan zi feng and ying ying are finally together even though it’s against her will which shows just how much yan zi feng regretted his decisions at first.

I am a man, as I was born in Latin America we learned from our parents I'm not supposed to let my eyes cry out, but this Drama kept me crying because of the big emotional charge it contains. Finally some sweet moments. I love the brothers coming together (royal ones) to protect their father and most of all Chu Mu and his little brother. I really miss the youngest brother and his little girlfriend (both killed) but at least we have two brothers and their loves still alive. I am so grateful Yan Zi Fang made the deal with Chu Mu to get amnesty (after Fu Shui killed his brother and the former prostitute he must have hated him). I wish the royal brothers could live well no matter what transpired. Even the crown prince (not as crazy about him but he came back to the fold). So many great actors and actresses in this drama. I can see all the flaws in the series with things omitted (no continuity/explanations at times)and not following the novel as well as it should, however the acting was wonderful most of the time and the humor when it was there was wonderful.

Very well executed by the makers. All the casts were just awesome. I like the soldiers costume don't know y it just stood out in my eyes more than the palace's costume may be it's in blue (my fav color)☺️ Though there was not much romance in the drama it's intriguing to watch. Ending was satisfactory 5 more mins of the lead pairs would have been more satisfied☺️ coz we couldn't get to see them together much in the middle. I'd watched The Rebel Princess (eventually got bored in some episodes that i skipped to watch the last.., Princess Agent,this is not boring, the Long Ballad, was good at the start to the middle but i lost interest pursuing it after episode 31, the story of Minglan, yes that was equally good that i'd finished it...like The Court lady, you dont get bored bec the story line is unpredictable and there are variations on it. But i'll never forget Nirvana in Fire 1 and 2. It is not appealing at first till it gets past episode 5...a beautiful true historical drama you cant afford not to appreciate it. There's a light one called Time Flies and You are here, a costume drama, with a simple plot but you cant help waiting for the next episodes too..

Good series. Fantastic job on the English subtitles! I wouldn’t have been able to watch this without the subbers. I appreciated the nod to the Dugu family towards the end, which was satisfying since we know Dugu Empress comes some time later. I liked how the dead loved ones were not completely forgotten. I wondered a bit about Fu Rou’s family after all the kids (excluding the oldest sister) went missing and how they reacted to that or Fu Yin’s surprise lovechild. Great cast all around and this is one of the only shows where I cared more about the supporting character romances than the main one. Not enough credit was given to Chu Mu’s uncle and his training methods, in my opinion. We also didn’t see the cheating Prince Consort receive justice for his adultery so slightly disappointed there. Decent music choice. Great special effects and fight-scene choreography. Costume, hair, and makeup were all A-list. Director, writers, and cinematographer were amazing. Scenery and lighting were also superb. Job well done!

This was the best ending i ever seen so far in cdrama of xu cai. He finally be with the woman he fight for all of his sacrifices has been paid off. This cdrama of him not only focus on them it gives way to the people that surround them. How revenge and greedy eats your mind and soul to harm your own brother, sister and your own country. The scene has a sense of humor, optimistic, mischievous, smart, clever, kindness, anger, revenge towards the past but stil in the end they repent and admit the consequences and be a better person because of love. This is my no.1 cdrama for xu cai because i saw his best acting charisma nevertheless he was not ended alone. I was very thankful that even there are too many leadingman aside from him li yitong will always be by his side never been a consort, lady or concubine. She still choose him and unto her. I think its whole production did well because its not boring its unpredictable every episode is worth to watch. The script is good as well its whole cast. I think all of them did their very best. Its a wrap but it will always be good to reminisce how i chumu act like a child and be a man. Li yitong and xu cai are great. They have chemistry. Hope to see you both in another cdrama.

Sighh.. what a sweet baby Prince Shi is❤ He's so smart and honourable. I'm glad Rou had the chance to pass on her knowledge and integrity to him. He'll be much greater for it. Kai Qing was not fit at all to be crown prince. His love for the common people, entertainers was good but he was naive. He has a poor spirit of discernment and poor decision making skills. He would have brought the dynasty down. I wasn't the biggest fan of the late queen while she was alive but I grew to appreciate her after her death. What a woman!

This was better than I expected...as usual Li, Yitong and Xu Kai did a wonderful job...the story, the actors were superb the story got a little muddled in a couple of parts.....but it is well worth it!

I think the one who has the most miserable fate in this drama is Du Ning. He is kind of matchmaker for our lead couple then fall in love with wrong person only to be official that died in duty. He is kind, gentle, loyal but his fate seriously unfair to him.
