Hello, can you explain how works the dot projector?

Thanks for asking. If you check slide 8 of file at below link, you can see VCSEL die photo. s3.i-micronews.com/uploads/2017/12/Sample-Apple-iPhone-X-%E2%80%93-Infrared-Dot-Projector-.pdf This VCSEL is a light source but it emits infrared so we can not see this IR light. There are many dots on die top surface and those dots emit infrared light and by going through DOE(Diffractive Optical Element), number of dot is increased to about 30,000. DOE is a kind of lens.
