If the USA only recognize English-speaking singers (don’t tell me y’all don’t listen to some Spanish music because you do, just as much as your European peers), then they’re missing lots of talented artists just because of their narrow-minded standards. But, not gonna lie, I’m French and Europe is just as closed on their own Western culture. Funny how Europe and America act as if Asia (I’m talking about South-East Asia in this case) doesn’t even exist in the music industry and when they do, they either act all surprised because OMG ASIANS CAN PRODUCE MUSIC WOW WHAT KIND OF NEWS IS THAT OR they laugh at them because all they recognize are music that seem weird to them (e.g. Psy’s Gangnam Style & Gentleman) OR they say that it’s just a bad copy of American music (what a joke) OR they recognize them just because they broke records (e.g. BTS & Psy). How many years has it been since they’ve portrayed Asians like weird, try-hard and cheap nerds ? Both Europe and America (especially the USA) can kiss my Vietnamese ass until they finally open themselves to the rest of the world, especially Africa and Asia.
