The crazy part is that even if they saw it, they still wouldn't have any idea of just how much work Grindstone put into that skip alone. Biboo mentioned in the end that they began struggling with that skip and realized that the timing changes every time they open the client. This is not something you can pick up from watching a speedrun - they figured it out, adjusted their timing, practiced it in the morning of the tournament and kept the game running to make sure the timing stays the same. During the run, you can even hear them call out the "super early" timing before acing that skip. I would have loved to see Miko's reaction to that skip - it would have blown her mind and she would have screamed so loud it'd still echo in my ears... and she'd still have no clue that perfecting that skip was even more impressive than what it looked like.

As OP as Team Subaru is (Myself still surprised that Kanade won the first game, and then there's Gigi on puzzle + Fubuki Exit 8 speedrun, Pico Park tied first place, MK8 first place, Biboo first crown win, etc). The funny thing is, during the announcement stream when Towa was introducing the teams. Iirc, Towa’s chat was saying something like “Isn’t Subaru’s team too powerful?” and Towa answered with “Are they?”. Lo and behold, her chat was right, Subaru’s team were very stacked. On another note tho, I think the win from Kanade and then Grindstone performance in Chained Together might have had a hand in hyping up the rest of the team to do their best.

to be fair, the 300 meters distance is quite deceiving if you play the game. Once you reach the Elevator, you shot up from 830 to 1000. That's why speedrunners always use the Elevator as Bench Mark. It's still 90 meter Difference from Chihaya team, though. So it's still a clear victory, but definitely not as far as people make it out to be.

Yes it may have been insignificant--but if you cannot clutch those numbers before they reach the elevator, that gap wouldn't even be added. A 5-second head start is enough to give you an edge--with skills, you can widen it more and have more time to do it. They even said themselves, not the best ( my goodness these two AHAHAHAHHAHA) but could be better. When you can outrun the lead who was also doing the same shortcuts and techniques--it all boils down to skill.

If you sync their POV's, it was actually pretty dead even up until the vault, where grindstone just had better execution on the buttons. Then after the first try laser skip they pulled way ahead and it was pretty much over from there. The reason why it looked close on towa's official broadcast was because kaela's POV on the main screen was ~30s behind chihaya's POV. Still glad to see chihaya is potentially another competitive type, i was kinda bummed after hololive lost 3 gamers in rapid succession. Honorable mention goes to the pekoniko pair. They kept up with the top 2 sweaty teams at the start just on clean execution alone. They fell behind after all the speedrun tricks came into play. Overall I'm just happy that this event exists so that the gamers in the company have a chance to shine. It appeals to people like me who aren't super into the idol stuff. Thank you Towa-sama for organizing this event! Edit: I just remembered the timesmith chained together collab. Kaela's been ready for this race for months!

Towa/Chihaya finished second in the spot where Bijou/Kaela had been at 18:00 (two minutes before the end). Towa/Chihaya were struggling at that point, while Grindstone were still rushing ahead through that section. I think the JP team didn't train that far or they were exhausted. 2 minutes would still only be about 50-100 m in most parts of the map, but Grindstone won by over 200 because they made it to an elevator that brings them from 800 to 1100 m. Time was up right as the elevator passed 1000 m. It was an impressive and clear win, but more competitive than I thought! Towa and Chihaya really showed up strong. I wish we would get another head to head between these teams now 😭

i think the laser spike skip made them tied with Towa’s team. After that, Towa team made a couple of missteps during the spinning cross and the lead grew further from there.

This isn’t the first time you’ve done it, but I find it very strange when you take someone’s reaction like Miko going “Sugoi” from a completely different moment, and just place it after something else. I guess it’s a TikTok thing , and I guess you don’t feel disingenuous doing it. But I find it very, very odd. Because I know that’s not what she was responding to because I saw it live. But everyone else who never did. It just goes with a narrative that you create. It’s not bad here , but you definitely have done some sketchy stuff in the past. Especially with “drama” stuff.
