사실 압도적인 승리말고 그냥 이기기만 하려면 무지성으로 근접보병에 기병 몇만 써서 근보 개돌시켜도 이깁니다. 창병은 근접보병 밥임. 진형 무너지면 기병으로 찔러주면 바로 모랄빵 나서 탈주함

Box formation only works with Artillery heavy onagers used to shield small missile fire and lots of trees, but if the opposing army or armies are mostly horse archers, you're formation is toast. a few fire arrows removes the effectiveness of trees and deletes most of the invisible wall heavy onagers make

In campaign mode I usually form a column of what’s left and march it across the map to where the enemy came from. Feels cool.

고지대를 버리고 비탈길에 진을 굳혔고 적이 고지대로 올라가는데 대처하지도 못하며 투사무기 일점사에 버티지도 못하니 이게 죽은 진이군요. 주인장이 저번에 올린 영상은 각잡힌 팔각진 대신에 유기적으로 꿈틀대면서 모든 변수에 대처하던데 살아 움직이는 진법이 어떤 건지 이제 알겠네요

I like how you fought the battle anyway because you recognized your opponent was passive and weak. The biggest problem with the box formation is that it concedes all initiative to the opponent. It relies on your opponent making the mistake of assaulting the pikes head on. To be a stronger player, one should attempt to win proactively. Come up with a plan to attack your opponent, and force them into a bad position instead.

겜은 안하는데 잼있네요. 이번화는 왠지 리얼한 전장 같은 느낌이 있네요. 대부분의 영상이 50프로의 병력만 같고도 이겨버리는데 풀병력과 모든 전략을 다쓰는 박빙의 경기가 없다는게 안타깝네요

I don't understand Korean, but I think I understand the strategy: - Enemy army mostly comprised of pike infantry and heavy infantry that are placed in a box-ish formation, thus immune to being flanked at the side/back. Additionally, they are supported by archers who can shoot over them. Ideally, the catapults would be deployed to deal damage over long-range, but the enemy dismounted them at the player's request. My guess is that if both armies have artillery, the first phase of the battle would be flinging boulders at each other until they ran out of ammo. I also observed that the enemy only had their general as their mounted unit, so the army is not that mobile. - Skirmishing Phase: This is probably the most important phase in the battle for the player because every bit of damage would count when the main charge would eventually begin. The player deployed slingers in loose formation to whittle down the infantry. I think the player used slingers because they have a large ammo capacity compared to other ranged troops in the game. Having them in loose formation also helps lessen casualties while the enemy archers shoot at them. If the enemy were to send infantry to get in melee with the slingers, the player would pull them back and intercept them with the player's cavalry (As seen in 4:30). We can see this tactic being effective as 5:18 shows the enemy move infantry to the front, exposing their rear for potential cavalry charges. - The main charge happened at 5:31 where the player decided to charge their heavy infantry. Since the enemy has been heavily damaged by the slingers, they are more likely to rout. Since the skirmishing phase opened up gaps to the "box", the players cavalry were able to take the opportunity to charge inside and attack either the defenceless archers or the rear of the enemy's infantry (As seen in 6:24). - 6:41The role of the player's heavy infantry was to keep the infantry busy while the cavalry inflicts heavy damage. The main challenge for the player at this point was to get the enemy army to rout as fast as possible before their infantry breaks. Because if the heavy infantry breaks, their cavalry would be next.

he couldve achieved the same effect by attacking from uphill with 2-3 javelin units punching a gap in the thin point then flooding his heaviest melee units through that gap while having his lighter melee units arrayed below the enemy to prevent the enemy from relocating his units without being pincered.

This formation is described in Romance of Three Kingdoms, "good" chinesse guys are using it to defeat enemy front cavalery units after feigning retreat. Enemy cav is going between good guys ranks and due to weapon range advantage spearmans easly defeats them. This is very defensive formation and it has some weakneses. 1. Units are really close to each other so its vunerable to artillery and missle fire. 2. Its unmobile so you basicly expect enemy to come to you and attack from every direction at once. Btw. if you like movies about medieval fighting you should watch Red Cliff - this is the movie used in this clip they have reproduced this formation very well.

사방팔방 탁 틔인데서 방진이라니 상대방은 기병도 있는데 ... 도망도 못가고 전멸각임 일단 기병은 탱크 같은 존재라 넒은 평지에서 보병이 거의 이길수가 없음 이분이 잘한게 아니라 상대방이 너무 모름 이게임에 궁기병이 잇는지는 모르겟지만 궁기병으로 히트앤런하면 보병은 해보지도 못하고 전멸함 진형 깨트리고 기병으로 감아서 포위공격하면 전멸함

저당시 10만 이런건 농민 긁어모은 징집병인 경우가 많아서 정예병들이 망치와 모루 전략으로 한번 잘 깨버리면 겁먹고 뿔뿔이 흩어지는 경우가 많았다고 하더라고요

Box formation is very effective againts cavalry and heavy armour spearmen on similar tier (2 and 3). Combined with archer unit, they could damage incoming enemies and work as intended (to plug holes and supplementary melee units). However, it would sacrifice the mobility of whole unit and become easy target for enemies ranged unit to picked on. A weird choice for Alan player to use static unit formation, while their faction strength came from cavalry unit. Therefore, it seems like his enemy wasting too much gold in arty and light pikemen/spearmen. Roman expedition and/or factions have some of the best basic spearman and melee unit in the game, it would make quick work in melee battle. Now, I don't understand Hangul (sorry), but from the video it could be broken down to: -Cavalry positioning -Slinger harassment -Enemy panic by death toll of front light spearman, therefore routing some unit from other side to reinforce the weak side, and creating a hole. -Enemy spearman tried to catch the slinger, get stomped by cavalry (Buccherati? I forgot) instead. -Melee unit attacking, some enemy melee unit diverted in respond to hold the attack, creating more hole in the process. -Cavalry swooping into the hole to kill ranged and arty unit. -Hammer and Anvil action to melee unit from front and back. It's too bad the Alan player panicked a bit and divert his unit, if he doesn't pursue the slinger unit and just hold, he probably could still win. Then again, Roman spearman are ridiculously good and placement unit in high ground and hill should be priority to have better position.

저 팔문금쇄진 안에 궁병들이 적 궁병들을 견제 해주면서 앞쪽에 장창병들이 버텨줘야 하는 전략인데 그냥 마음이 급해가지고 후방에 있던 1열 2열 병력들 대거 끌어다 투입 시키니 망

팔문금쇄진을 검색해봤더니..설왕설래가 많기는 하던데.. 내가 보기에는 분명 실전적인 요소가 있음. 그런데 영상에 나오는건...저건 그냥 방진임. 그것도 엉청나게 큰 방진인데...역사적으로 부대 전부를 저렇게 한곳에 몰아넣어버리는 멍청한 장군은 없었음. 방진을 쳤을때도.. 소부대로 쪼개서 촘촘하게 배치한 다음 옆에 부대를 도울 수 있게 배치를 하는게 기본임. 그렇게 하는 이유는 여러개의 소부대를 한꺼번에 전멸시키기 힘들기 때문이고, 한부대를 집중공격하는 순간..주변의 방진이 집중 공격함. 물론 그렇다고 해도 무적은 아님. 그건 그렇고 전투의 핵심은 적을 학익진에 가두는 것임. 그러니까..현대전에서 십자포화로 구현하고, 중세에서는 학익진임. 냉병기든...열병기든..전투에서 벌어지는 일은 기본적으로 망치와 모루 전술임. 심지어 소규모 분대전투라던가..대규모 전투라던가 대부분 망치와 모루 전술의 변형인 학익진과 유사한 형태를 가짐. 여기서 망치와 모루는 전투진행상황에 따라 달라짐. 핵심은 적의 옆구리를 치는 것임. 뒤를 치면 가장 좋지만.. 마주보는 상황에서 결코 뒤를 잡기는 쉽지가 않음. 하여간 팔문금쇄진은 학익진을 네방향에서 친것에 불과함. 모양이야 어찌되었건.. 병력을 네방향으로 학익진을 전개시켜서 학익진을 구성하는 것임. 적의 주공이 한곳을 뚫으려고 집중을 하면 다른 진을 움직여서 상대를 둘러 쌓아야 함. 뒤에 높은 고지대를 남겨두거나 하는건.. 하면 안되는 것이고, 넓은 평야같은 ...그러니까 회전에서 해야할 진법임. 4개의 학익진으로 상대를 둘러싸는 과정에서 외곽에서 치려고하면.. 반대로 진을 뒤집어버리면 됨. 중요한것은 ㄱ 자 형태로 상대를 에워싸는게 중요함. 4개의 학익진으로 큰 학익진을 구성하는 식으로 기동을 해야 함. 이걸 뚫으려고 집중하는 순간 다른 학익진이 접급함. 적이 기동하는 상태에서 진을 펼치지지도 않고 가만히 있는 시점에서 패배는 이미 결정난 것임. 팔문금쇄진 자체가 적의 기동에 대응해서 진을 변형시키는게 핵심인데.. 무엇보다 적의 위치를 모르는 상태에서 사방의 적에게 유기적 대응을 하기 위한 진형인데... 가만히 있어버리니.. 이건 진이라고 할 수 도 없음. 적이 움직이기 시작하는 시점에서 진을 움직여야 함. 학익진이 4개는 나오는데... 이걸 적의 주력이 움직일때 기동시켜서 에워 싸야 함. 실전 사례로 본다면 참호같은 것도 기본적으로 학익진같은 형태임. 2차세계대전때도 학익진 같은 참호를 여러개를 파서 앞에 지뢰깔고, 용치같은 것을 배치해서 대응한 사례가 있음. 그 유명한 히틀러의 요새작전..그니까..시타델작전에서 맞대응한 쏘련이 참호를 팠을때 이런 유사한 참호를 팠음. 모양은 달라도 학익진같은 참호를 사방에 배치를 해서 독일을 엿 먹였음. 학익진 같은 진법을 뚫기 어려운 이유는 ㄱ자의 꼭지점을 뚫으려고 시도를 할때 양쪽에서 옆구리를 때리기 때문임. 인간은 정면에서는 어느정도 버티지만, 옆에서 치면 대책이 없음. 인간의 시야는 앞쪽으로 몰려있고, 옆을 보는 시야는 약함. 양옆에 시야를 확보하는건 초식동물만 가능함. 꼭지점은 비교적 거리가 멀고, 이 꼭지점으로 몰려가는데는 시간이 걸림. 이순간 지속적으로 옆구리를 타격하는 것임. 이 학익진을 뚫으려면 결국 똑같이 학익진을 펼쳐서 끝부분부터 갉아 먹어야 하는데 이걸 가만 놔둘리가 있나.... 진이 움직일 것이고, 결국 상대의 옆구리를 잡기 위해 뱅글 뱅글 돌게 됨. 이렇게 되는 순간 기동이 중요해지고, 기병의 역활이 중요함. 기병이 계속 찔러주면서 진을 깨는게 중요해짐. 이런 학익진같은 것은 주력이 같은 보병일때..서로 기동력이 같을때 유효하고, 기병과 보병이 붙었을때..즉..몽골기병과 보병이 붙게되면 판판이 깨짐. 사실 기병한테는 보병의 진법 같은게 통하지 않음. 이럴때는 강력한 한방... 즉 포병과 총병이 있어야 함. 아니면 성이 있던가..지형의 힘을 빌리던가..하다못해 강력한 활이 있던가... 그리고, 고대부터 현대까지..진을 펼치지도 못하는 군대는 군대도 아님. 그냥 군중임.

Hit with ranged units, bait them to charge with their melee, then you cav charge em. Rinse and repeat. That, or kite with ranged units.

4차 카와나카지마 전투의 딱따구리가 벌레 잡아묵는 성동격서 용병술이랑 비슷하네요. 물론 우에스기 켄신은 그거를 보고는 별동대에 기각지세로 포위당하기 전에 바로 상대적으로 후달리는 적 본진을 까버리는 신수를 둬버리고 성공하기 직전까지 감.. 상대도 마찬가지로 포위기동 중인 적을 전력으로 공격하는 선택지도 있었는데, 자라리 그걸 썼으면 저렇게 처참하게 지진 않았을듯 옛말에 성과 요새와 산은 패자의 마지막 버팀목에 불과하다는 말과 배수진을 치는건 병법을 모른다는 비웃음이나 받기 딱좋았는데, 상대를 보니 투석기만 믿고 진을 세울 길도 잘못쳤고, 적의 포위기동을 눈뜨고 지켜만 보았고.. 적이 여유롭게 공격진을 펼치기까지 아무것도 안했으니 지는거 말고는 방법이 없음. 역시 목적없는 단순 포메이션과 모든 준비를 마친 적을 향한 무지성 어택땅은 말라죽기를 기다리는 길..

저는 상대가 최대한 접근했을때 장창병으로 경보병 보호하면서 돌격시켜서 투석병잡고 장궁병을 창병으로 지키면서 투석기랑 활로 기병을 집중 공격할거 같습니다

이거 보고 느낀 게 현실에서 팔문금쇄진의 이점은 일단 진 안의 병력 이동을 관측하기 어려워서 상대의 진 안에서 어떤 카드가 어디로 튀어나올지 보기 어렵다는 거였을 거 같아요. 물론 전장의 가장 고지대를 선점했다는 가정하에서요

That was a rather static enemy. Barely manuevered his forces except for head on engagements, didnt seem to move his cavalry during your charge into the core. Seems almost like a scenario campaign.
