I can't generate any sympathy for Allen Ren's character. Doesn't matter what he went through if he has so little regard for an innocent girl's life and is willing to kill her by stabbing or poison. It makes him despicable. I much prefer Pei Yan; at least he is trying to save Jiang Ci.

Regarding his sad backstory, it seemed he suffered the least out of his family. He even let his sister constantly sacrifice to protect him, with him never doing anything nor trying. When he finally, hypocritically, said, "I want to protect you", he still couldn't try to give her the porridge again and she was taken away to who knows what fate seconds later. Harming innocent women like the female lead or the wife of the former palace guard in the beginning... I hate this character. I don't understand why so many viewers still like him. Seems unredeemable

ya know what i absolutely love Allen Ren but no matter what the reason for stabbing and poisoning and then scaring her half to death and with violence again and then tied upside down....she’s quite chatty when he catches her ..this is when she should not talk so much cos at the moment he’s a very angry man ..if he can treat an innocent young woman this way then he’s definitely got no conscience….. Allen Ren is playing the part of a very cruel man in this drama so far…. then there’s Jeremy Tsui who used her as bait which is a bit sad as well .. but loving the drama just the same ..

She has a sliced neck and her previous wound reopened from Wei Zhao pressing it. She just says she might feel unwell from eating the crabs. Those people from ancient times were sure a lot tougher than modern people. We would have to be treated by a doctor or hospital etc.. The old wound would have to be redressed and the new one clean and dressed. I guess they were impervious to infection also, lol.

I don't understand why Wei Zhao went after Jiang Ci when his target was Tang Rui. Yes, he was annoyed with her for thwarting his plans, but she was a nobody to him. Plus, with Tang Rui on the road back from the Yu Shrine, it would have been easiest to ambush him then.
