The Korean trainees has it really rough, all of them worked so hard but none of them are sure that they'll debut when they get eliminated. Some trained longer than others and Produce48 could be their last shot to make it. Imagine working so hard and not reaching the goal you want because other people thought you weren't good enough? it sucks. but it doesn't make it less harder than the Japanese trainees too! although they're already on a well known group ( AKB,NMB,SKE,HKT) in the Japanese system it's still survival of the fittest. With so many members in every group from so many deferent generations it's really hard to stand above the rest. Miyu is a great example, she's been an AKB member for so long! and we all know she has that immense amount of talent! but she is barely recognized by so many fans due to other members being way more popular. Being a low rank AKB members means you dont get as much recognitions, wont be in music videos or be promoted at all. it's almost similar to having a full time job that pays at minimum wage. It sucks.

viewers who say, this is a competition are only half right.....it's also a chance to perform on a stage like as if it was the last and leave it without any regrets because the trainees know they did their best. This is why you see trainees support each other like soldiers in the trenches and you don't have catfights like you would on American reality shows. For some trainees, being eliminated might be their last chance or make their journey to debut longer...but at least they get to perform on a stage they can be proud of.
