The game's actually super fun as an FTP for now. It eventually dries up when you finish the current story content and explore everywhere, since most of the repeatable content is time-gated, but the dozens and dozens of hours before you reach that point are still worth it. Five-star characters are basically non-existent as an FTP though, yeah. I came to terms with that early on, aimed for random four-star waifus instead, got myself a full team of them without paying a cent, and now I'm unhealthily attached to all of them.
