I appreciate your thoughtful approach. Your advice was supportive and encouraging. This artist is extremely talented for their age and their love of painting shows through.
I agree with you. The original painting has not one focal center but really two. I think the artist combined two separate pictures into one. But it doesn't seem to work well. It's not an interesting painting to me. I don't really like the basically monotone color palette for the ship and sky. Even though it's stormy, there could have been touches of other colors too to give the painting interest. Art is about enticing the eye to look at the painting more. The use of color is a great way to do this. Another way is in improving composition which is what Shibasaki is suggesting. The artist clearly has talent and just needs to continue improving. Good video, thanks.
You did the famous big wave from Hokusai ! No, not really a copy, but a piece of art of its own ! Japan is surrounded by oceans, I think that japanese like big waves, do they ?

Yeah,I think that’s a one of the reasons. But not only that,we japanese think all of things on this world are Gods-Including artificial things-especially natural things. So we think we can’t dominate nature. That’s why we respect ,love, and fear those . Big waves are symbols of great power of nature/God ,we love them too I am not good at in speaking ENGLISH,sorry 😂
