Hey guys, I just wanted to apologize for the video title + possible comments/translator notes I made in the subtitles throughout the video. It’s come to my attention that certain users as well as fans may have taken offence to it and found the insinuations regarding men insulting, specifically the line where I said “all men do Is lie”. This is valid and not my place to police their feelings. The video title is now edited - I can’t edit out the subs because they are hard subs and now encoded in the entire video. So I truly apologize. I had initially included it as a play on the common rhetoric re: men that “all men do is lie”, "I hate men so much lmao", etc. They’re not a reflection of my actual feelings, I just thought it was perfect/funny for the video because WayV was taking a clearly unreliable lie detector test and were voluntarily “exposing” each other’s friendships with the questions they were asking. Edit: it was also me playing into their whole "we are bad guys/players" concept for Bad Alive, and I really thought it was perfect given that is usually how females/women my age talk when dealing with those type of guys we know irl. For context, I'm the same age as Lucas, Xiaojun, and Hendery. I realize now that this may not have been perceived well as a joke and feeding into sexism against men, which is not at all what I was promoting; I just thought it adhered to my subbing brand/humour that people have come to know me for. Most of you who are familiar with me or my channel know that my style of subbing has always been to include “square bracket comments”, which sometimes act as translator notes or as just little personal comments I make as I go. A lot of it is sarcasm or deadpan humour that I realize doesn’t always translate well over text (no pun intended) where you can’t actually “hear” my intonations/mood intended. I’ve gotten really only positive feedback from it and continuous encouragement to do so, from both viewers that need subtitles and viewers who don’t, so I’m going to keep doing it - however rest assured that moving forward I will be more mindful of what I put and remember that my humour may not be for everyone, as well as evaluate my own reactions and thoughts. I've gone through the entire video and flagged the comments on my end that I think could've gone too far, and in the future I will definitely refrain from including them. There is definitely a way to still keep my commentary/translator notes refreshing, funny, and familiar to my channel branding without coming at the expense of others. I truly only aim to provide an open, fun, immersive, and accessible space for fans to enjoy WayV content while being able to overcome the language barrier together. I enjoy being a fan translator and if I didn’t love WayV and giving back to the fandom as much as I did, then I absolutely wouldn’t be here in the capacity that I am. What troubles me the most is that people may doubt my sentiments towards or support for the boys, which is my last intention with running an entire channel dedicated towards them, so I’ll be reflecting on my actions in this video + doing better in my subs in the future. Furthermore, my absolute last intention EVER is to make any fellow WayZenNis/NCTzens unwelcome here. Thanks guys for understanding and watching!
