Basically gfriend and mamamoo were on opposite paths. Gfriend started by showcasing their dancing skills then through the years started showing every member's vocal skills as we see on sunrise. Mamamoo started with the insane vocals and through the years showcased their dance skills.

Kathleen Beck Headset microphones and handheld microphones are the same for the most part but with handheld microphones, there is more chance for feedback and if the artist doesn’t have good microphone technique then it sounds more muffled.

Okay so the handheld (dynamic) and lavalier (headset) microphones work really similarly. Yes a lot of artists would prefer to use lavalier microphones to focus on choreography but tbh they work the same way. I know what I’m talking about, I work with microphones all the time. Both microphones pick up sound 360° all around. Some kpop idols (especially rappers) would use the dynamic microphones as an accessory to bring attention to them. Also their outfits affect what microphones they use. Lavalier mics are used especially to give the appearance that there is no microphone there. If the outfit is difficult to hide a microphone pack then they would probably use a dynamic microphone. The microphones mamamoo is using here is much bulkier and different than other groups. Usually, lavaliers are skinned tone to blend in with the singer (to give the illusion of no microphone) but mamamoo’s microphones is more of an accessory. Also, I personally think headset microphones sound a little bit better than dynamic microphones but they sound the same for the most part. Dynamic microphones are actually super easy to set up while with lavaliers, you have to tape them to the singer. Yes some singers do use dynamics to control their singing in a way but it’s a little unnecessary sometimes because the sound technician there can easily quiet them or EQ the singer so there won’t be feedback. So yeah. They’re not really unique or special for using a certain type of microphone lmao.

Also with a lavalier microphone, although it is longer to set up, it makes things much easier on the singer so they don’t have to worry about holding their microphone. Also it’s easier on the soundboard operator or the technician running sound because the singer isn’t moving their microphones away from their mouth.

Crown CM311 Condenser Microphone. The headmic is big due to the size of the mic capsule. The difference between this mic compared to other headmic is when you suddenly shout at it the audio is not distorted and the volume is automatically normalize within the mic itself and it works on the opposite when you lower your voice the mic raises the volume to the normal level. The mic is design to pickup voice only on a cartroid pattern or only near the mic usually below 3cm.
