Betty!!! (Excellent Excellent job of Explaining). Your very gifted and talented woman. I know you went to keep the switch original as possible, I'm the same way. But if worse comes to worse, you can put a toggle switch in the head light housing and use that same wire you sodder, that same wire goes into the head light housing. That would be the last resort if it came to that. God Bless you and your Husband 🙏

I looked into that but want to keep it as original as possible. I did find just the top for sale for 14 dollars It should be arriving in the next couple days. So I have to take it all back apart! But if it works, it’s worth it. Have a great day my friend

i dont know bikes, but i would bet that switch is a ground connection not a power wire, that supplies ground for the Ignition system. have you checked the other end ? it must be getting ground from somewhere else. like someome by passed it.
