Thanks so much for putting up this video. I was on this flight and it was an absolutely terrible experience. For the public: what added insult to injury was that the crew just went completely missing after we landed, and we had no way of liasing with RBA in BWN or in London. We had essentially no information, while MCT staff gave some food, no dietary constraints were catered for, some people were rebooked but others weren't (despite there being lots of flights to Melbourne from there). Finally, after 17 hours, we were put in a hotel. But then, the next day, we were told we are going to depart at 6pm, then it became 8pm, then 10pm, and then we were told to unboard the buses we were on to head to the airport because we might not fly. It's at that point that me and some others simply bought our own tickets and flew out of there. Some have commented they are a small airline. Yes, but be that as it may, it is still a part of their duty of care to ensure that we are accommodated in an emergency situation, at least with the crew staying behind and ensuring that passengers are looked after. Furthermore, the delays that were caused are a serious breach of UK261 and EU261/2004, guaranteeing passenger rights for flights departing the UK and EU.

Exactly! Even though they are a small airline, they still must have the responsibility to take care of us and rebook us to another flight, instead of leaving us in the airport for almost an entire day

A friend of mine works in Maintenance at RBA. He tells me that the Rolls-Royce engines on their four Dreamliners are a nightmare! 'The worst engines ever made by Rolls'! he claims. He also told me that thanks to an iron-clad contract...ALL maintenance costs and repairs are being born by Rolls-Royce! In fact, Rolls-Royce are liable for every Dreamliner maintenance costs for those models using this engine! It's costing Billions! RBA are having serious issues with Boeing and its telling that ALL their new aircraft since they purchased the 787 a decade ago...have been Airbus! As for the chaotic response...well, RBA are such a small airline, they simply don't have the staff or the infrastructure to cope with stuff like this, they are not part of any alliance. All I can suggest for the future, if this happens again, is call the RBA Operations Manager in Brunei! They are open 24/7 although what they could actually do in those situations, I'm not sure.

I didn't know you purchased the tickets with insurance or not. If this happen you can bring this things up. Usually if long flight I will take the flight insurance with tickets. Just to ease my mind if this happen.

Royal Brunei are known to when the system delays, every thing else delays. I flew them a few times in and out Dubai to Australia, when every thing is in order, they arrive in time with perfection, but when a slight delay occur, well, then every thing delays. I flew them last Dubai to Melbourne with a connecting flight to Sydney 4 hours after arrival, flight from Dubai to Brunei delayed 1 hour on the ground, no issues, made up for it in the air & arrived 30 minutes late to Bandar, this gave me 2.5 hour to my flight to Melbourne, except, the flight to Melbourne was delayed for over 5 hours than the scheduled time & that made us arrive Melbourne 5 hours late, so naturally missed my connecting flight. To add salt to the injury, RBA refused to give any compensation & since we where in BWN, RBA base, we where offered an old sandwiches at the airport in quarters, each passenger was given 2 quarters.

Sorry to hear about this experience with RBA. Normally they are an excellent airline, but in situations like this they seem to have troubles handeling it. That's probably caused by being a small airline and not being a member of an alliance. Still they could be giving you and the other passengers more information about what's going on.

It still doesn't explain why the crew went totally missing and left the rest of us to deal with MCT handlers - and they had no idea what was going on because RBA doesn't fly there. In fact, because there's no RBA representation at MCT, it is even more important that the crew are there to act as a liason between the passengers and RBA in BWN.

After the engine failed twice while on the ground, don’t you think it’s a bad idea to fly the plane ? They are putting the passengers’ life at risk ☹️.And the crew of RBA should have stayed with the passengers and keep them updated on what’s happening,but instead they all vanished into thin air..This airline is a disgrace

Why? Most pilots on RBA doesnt have crashes except for that one crash on a 767 with 80 passengers and all rba aircrafts doesnt experience any crashes only emergencies so dont worry its not a bad airline
