Thank you so much for this video. You helped me diagnose my problem while I was sitting at a Walmart distribution center in Casa grande Arizona and was able to buy the part the next day. Just gotta thank YOU for mentioning the stick clutch. I left my hood open over night and the fan was stuck in afterwards. I jumpered the airline at the switch so it had full truck air to the clutch all the time and with the engine off and air changed rapped it with a hammer and she let go. $450 and many hours saved! Thank YOU so much!!!

Great video. I subscribed. My 2017 Cascadia sat on my concrete driveway for a month (my bad for not starting it once a week for 30 minutes) and yesterday when I took it for a ride I noticed the fan was on all the time. Watched your video, verified I had air going to it with the ignition switch on, no air leaking, so I tapped on the fan clutch last night, but it would not release. This morning I started up the truck and aired it up to the 140 psi max (last night it was 110-120 psi), shut truck off, turned ignition to the on position and tapped the fan clutch 8 to 10 times and it released. Whew!! Seems to be fine and I will be starting the truck at least once a week from now on. Thanks again. Be safe. ✌️

Some trucks like paccar may have two high pressure ac switches. One thing with Cummins isx if the fan clutch is bad it will stay in the on position. Also if the clutch is thin enough it can separate and now you have a clutch, fan and radiator to replace. I had the clutch fail in that fashion on my isx

Great video! After paying a shop to diagnose a stuck fan on, I watched them slap on a new solenoid, then new high pressure switch and charge 2 hours of labor. They swore it was fixed... Didn't bother diagnosing the fan clutch with a vacuum guage or pressure test. 20 mins down the road fan was stuck on... I drove home and personally removed the fan clutch and hub from the engine bay. Not a hard of a job. I opened the fan clutch on a table and found the 20 cent o ring falling apart, not sealing air in. You couldn't hear it leak but it was enough to force the fan to run. Folks, tips in this video will save you hundreds of dollars in bad repair service bills and the frustration of trusting unskilled/ lazy mechanics with your truck.

if all the mechanical items seem to be working properly, it is possible it's an ecm issue. or a temp sensor might not be sending a good signal to let the ecm know to kick it in. just my first thought.

My fan keep ls turning on automatically often even when it shouldnt! It makes a heavier noise than when the fan is activated aswell. Kind of grinding vibrating sound. I can turn it off after I turn it off manually and then turn it off. It stays off for a while sometimes it come back up right away. I tried changing the coolant temp sensor and still going. Mechanic checked for air leaks nothing. What do you think it could be? Its also comsuming more fuel. 😫 2006 CAT C13 on Kenworth T800.

2013 Clark diesel 12.7 glider like this one. Fan stays on about 30 minutes and then releases. Today the fan hub is leaking air when it’s not released key on (I tried tapping with hammer) but when I bypass the solenoid by connecting supply air directly it releases and doesn’t leak. It sounds like your truck cant cool itself down. Start simple..do you think tne thermostats are opening? Have you made sure the radiator and ac condensor arent plugged with dirt and bugs so it can move air thru it? There could be several causes. Is your air filter badly plugged?. If you rule out all the little things first, then maybe you need a mechanic.

overheating can be caused by many different things..any other symptoms? just to start with the simplest things....is your fan coming on? thermostats opening? is the air filter clean and not clogged up? have you cleaned the radiator lately as well as the charge air cooler? are the fins full of dirt which would cause poor cooling? is the truck very old and many have a clogged up muffler full of soot? do you also have low power? which could mean a charge air cooler leak, which can also cause higher temperature. these are just simple quick things to check before spending a ton of money. I don't know anything about your truck, so it's hard to say what's happening.

When was the last time you cleaned the radiator and or taken the condenser and charged air cooler off and cleaned in between them. That will cause a huge air flow issue if it's all plugged up and not allowing air flow

Even just using a simple product like purple power and spraying it into the condenser, charge air and radiator will loosen up the dirt, dust and oil if you let is soak than take a garden hose or very low pressure water hose to wash it out. Don't just spray a degreaser into it and leave it. Once it dries out it can cause dirt to attract even quicker

I’ve checked all that and mine still stays on. A/C is perfect, my fan kicks out when I turn the key off like it’s supposed to but as soon as I start the engine it kicks in. Even when it’s cold outside. Also changed the manual fan switch on the dash. Any suggestions?

@@MonkeyDust161 when I turn the ignition off the fan kicks out. So that tells me the solenoid is putting air to it but when I start the engine it kicks back in. It’s gotta be in the ecm. I’ll get it figured out someday lol
