i use a long chisel and it knocks the fan nut right off had my 95 sence new have400000on it now @@michiganshooter

doing my balancer on the side of the road and this helped immensly. luckily i dont have it diggin into the timing cover as it came off the other way.

I had a 88 years ago i was a pain changing the water pump. Ibcant believe how bad the harmonic balancer dug in to the timming cover. Great videos im building a 79 inline six for my truck i will soon have more video of this.

Most times when the harmonic balancer is starting to go bad there will be an annoying chirp. I have never seen one so bad that it damaged the timing cover. Enjoyed the vid

Yep this began with intermittent higher pitch chirp that would go away when applying the clutch (sending me down a throwout bearing / slave cylinder / clutch / tensioner pulley rabbit hole) that lasted a few months.. then began the scraping, scratching, grinding "not so funny anymore" sounds.

WTF? I thought the nut on the fan clutch was supposed to have right hand threads (to loosen it you turn it clockwise). You obviously showed otherwise. Looks like I was bigtime wrong. Right hand means "normal threading," "RIGHTY TIGHTY-LEFTY LOOSEY." Very glad I watched this before I started.

Clutch fan is a left hand thread.

the only thing is do not leave penetrating oil on the mating surface of the timing covert and gaskets. this will actually hurt sealing up the 2 surfaces when put back together. i know you said it prevents rust but that is one of the reasons engine oil runs threw those parts of the engine. instead just clean then spray brake cleaner to ensure no oil or dirt is on the mating surfaces

Saw a video where the guy took the whole water pump off with the fan still attached. Also didn't you end up using a pipe wrench?

This year/make/model was too tight in there to get at the bolts and take water pump off with fan still attached (tried that!). We did end up using a pipe **over** a wrench as a cheater pipe for leverage. That's what finally worked. Too tight in there for even a pipe wrench.
