Thanks Zach, It feels a bit strange not working on a video. Allowing myself to focus on the work has allowed me to make some good progress in the last two weeks alone. Hoping it continues. I am looking forward to sharing the progress in the future episodes. Thanks for the comment and watching. - Bob

Hi Bob, can't blame you for getting work done on the boat in good weather. I'll be looking forward to the next video or any updates. Take care and stay well. Jerry

Hi Jerry, I just had 3 straight full days of boat work and spent yesterday at the Wooden Boat show in Mystic Connecticut. Exhausted and inspired and loving it. Nothing like progress & inspiration. We're progressing well. Take Care - Bob

That Red and White Boat looks like my 3375 Cruisers 😂. Last i heard you were dealing with some prostate issues. I hope and pray 🙏 you are doing well and returning to the boat. You are my inspiration. I'm finally getting my 86 Cruisers home and will be getting her ready for the ICW. Thank you for your excellent videos.

Hopefully yours is in better shape than the one you saw. I think that one is on the slate for being junked. Was a nice boat at one time. 3 month post operation tests are good and I'm feeling really good. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. Thanks for watching and commenting. - Bob

Good luck with the rudder alignment. I’ve replaced rudders before, but never had to start from scratch.
@renovationsportfish15632 жыл бұрын
The rudder doesn’t worry me as much as the strut. The whole steering system construction doesn’t appear to have been very precise on this boat and I will have the original holes still in the fiberglass hull as a guide. I have removed all of the rudder assemblies as of this reply. The struts will be next. Thanks for the comment. - Bob

The extra strainers are called eel grass strainers and they are a good thing if you run the boat in areas where high concentration of grass in the water. Usually the bottom cover slides out if you remove the screws that lock the screen in. Keep up the good work.
@renovationsportfish15632 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the clarification Lisa. When I launch the boat it will be in the river I'm currently at and there is plenty of grass so probably a good idea to keep them. The ones I took off do not have the slide out feature you mentioned. You need to unscrew them from the bottom of the boat to clean them which is what I don't like about them. I will look into other types to see if I can find one that has the features that allow for easier cleaning/maintenance. Thanks for watching and commenting. - Bob

I enjoy you videos and look forward to everyone. As you say the work comes first and videos second. A suggestion maybe a quick walk around unedited just to keep us in the loop and edited videos when you have time

Hi Russell, I have thought about what you are suggesting. I go back and forth about it. I will reconsider it if the interest is there. Thanks for the comment. Bob

I enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing. Regarding your hardware issues. You will be removing the rudders, rudder logs and seals, propeller shafts, struts, and shaft logs and seals. It's time to replace or refurbish all of that hardware. Hopefully the rudders, shafts, and struts are in good condition. You should give some serious consideration to replacing the rudder and shaft logs and seals. And you will want to replace the cutlass bearings. By the time you finish your hull repairs on the wood and fiberglass, you will probably have to drill new holes for the shafts and definitely for the struts. The fixed point will probably be where the shafts go through the logs. This needs to be centered. Then you have to position the struts as not to bind with the shafts while they are centered in the logs. This is sometimes done by placing a jack under the strut to hold the strut against the hull while you find the exact location. The reason for replacing some of this metal (bronze) hardware is that it may be subject to pitting corrosion and embrittlement over so many years. The rudder seals can be the old packing-gland type. But you may want to consider the newer style rotary seals for the shafts. Like PSS shaft seals.

Good advice and definitely everything will need replacement as you stated. Install new engines to the old running gear would be a disaster and big mistake.

All good advice. Thanks for the interest and pointing out the critical areas. Much appreciated. All of the rudder assemblies have been removed as of this reply. Hoping to get the rest out this month. Thanks for watching and commenting. - Bob

@14:07 That other boat with the blue hull and extra strainer, isn't that also an Egg Harbor? It at least appears similar to one from what appears in the video.
@renovationsportfish15632 жыл бұрын
That boat isn’t an Egg Harbor. I’m not sure what it is. I knew a past owner of it but I forgot what he told me it was. There are no markings to verify. There was another Egg Harbor in the marina that I looked at recently and it had the same strainer system as mine. Thanks for watching and commenting. - Bob

@@renovationsportfish1563 Perhaps its a Post or a Viking. For the type of boat that it is, the single screw is kind of unusual.

I no this is late but quick and fast way too removed it is to grind off the bottom through hull mushroom head then you can get it out from inside , just buy a new through hull mushrooms it’s a lot quicker and they don’t cost much

Hi Bob. Love the beard. It's been awhile since I watch your wonderful videos. I made a spreadsheet on your work. By Year, Ep, Part, Time, and Location of work done on the boat. Last I looked in was EP 56, 2020, Aug, Cockpit Transom & Panels Part 1. I need to catch up but I would love to send the spreadsheet. I think you would get a kick out how it looks on a timeline and workbook. If you like to have a copy. Please send me your email and I will forward it to you. You my be able to work into to your info
