Hello, I got a somewhat simple video idea, revisiting crankcase pressure. Does getting fresh air directly under the pistons help? Does positive crankcase pressure help a "well worn" engine?............. Perhaps you can obtain more horsepower with negative pressure if you have a breather on the dipstick (to get fresh air under pistons). Another idea is with forcing fresh air under the pistons and venting through a valve cover port (no PCV in place), possibly restricting this if positive crankcase pressure helps a "well worn" engine.

You should try the ceramic restorer additives like RVS technology that claim to actually restore worn/rough metal inside engine with ceramic.

Products that do work are decarbonisation products. I use a Subaru branded 'upper cylinder cleaner'. Great for cleaning up the combustion chamber, backs of valves and freeing up and de-coking rings. My Silvia had 2 holes with 50psi compression, pulled the plugs and put half a can in each, left it a few hours. Turning the crank every hour. Plugs back in and took it for a hard run up the road re test the next day. All cylinders back up within 5psi. Obviously won't help if the rings are generally worn out. I don't really believe in this whole idea of putting thicker oil in worn engines to reduce smoke or oil consumption. I reckon thicker oil would be harder for the oil rings to scrape back off. Id only consider it if the engine had low oil pressure and use it as a band aid. Obviously you where sceptical on the effectiveness of this product. Oil manufacturers have additive packs to improve the performance of oil. This for the most eliminates any need or temptation to add additional junk to it.

I once owned a 1985 Bronco with the 300 six. The engine was smoking badly and burning a lot of oil so when I was forced to use it to tow a trailer 1200 miles I was not happy about it. I added some engine restore figuring I had nothing to lose. After about 500 miles the oil loss was reduced and by the time I arrived the engine no longer smoked badly, just a little. I honestly think all the Restore did was free up some stuck piston rings but it did work.

It would have been interesting to see if a 2 stroke premix could have helped. Bit like pouring oil into the cylinder to suss where comp is being lost, but more proactive. Probably start at 200:1 and work down to 50:1... for pscience. There's 'anecdotal' evidence rotors pick up a little power with heavy premix around 60:1 so always been curious.

I really think products like this only increase oil viscosity. Perhaps in some limited situations this can help with blow-by and increase oil pressure and even reduce oil leaks. Amazin thing on 4AGE is, it copied Cosworth engine from 70s but never reached its values. No hate, just mentioning. Whats the problem of 4AGE compare to Cosworth BDE except displacement? Im watching some dude who is racing starlet and reaching 200+hp as he states was very problematic even with his great knowledge of engine engeneering....right now hes doing 10K RPM, one of fastest 1600cc car in uphill races, BUT that was doable by Cosworth in 70s....
@Garage4age2 жыл бұрын
There isn't much in common with them other than being a twin cam 16v 4 cylinder. maybe they took some ideas from cosworth engine. but there were other engines around with similar design also. 2000cc vs 1600cc is a quite a displacement difference. cosworth has a whole cylinder worth of displacement more. Another way to look at it, is 2000cc engine has to make 100hp per liter to make 200hp at engine. 1600cc has to make 125hp per liter to make same 200hp.

Did you ever do Oil testing? Engine Masters here in the U.S. did an episode. Thicker oil resulted in power gains on some engines due to ring seal. m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/eojFnYionq6qnsk&pp=ygUSRW5naW5lIG1hc3RlcnMgb2ls See if you can get Nulon or some other high performance "Boutique" racing oil donated by the blender in different weights, but make sure you ask for high concentration of Tri-nuclear MoDtc, & Zddp combo in the oil blend. You might be surprised at the gains...... 🏁🏁🏁 Also, try a dyno run after the oil change, then again in 100km as it takes time for the MoDtc (Moly) to build a synergistic layer with zinc as a anti-friction coating. MoDtc is the best Moly vs. the numero forms of Moly used in many oils & Additives like MsO2 which is a inferior form of Moly.
