Engine Swapped Mk1 : 200KW 1.8L 20v Turbo **I didn’t expect this**

In this video we featured the legendary Volkswagen Mk1 Golf with a heart transplant, a powerful 1.8L Turbo charged to be specific!! And I was shocked by the way I got thrown around in that small body Mk1. Running on 0.6 bar boost the big turbo upgrade definitely made its presence felt right away !!

Mk1 Body(approximately) 900kgs, 1.8 20vt (stock is 110kw and can make a reliable 180 - 200kw with just a turbo/intercooler upgrade). VR6 motors are dying out and parts are hard to find, ABF motors the same, parts are hard to find, VVL you going to spend a bucket load of cash to get it to 180kw. 1.8t is/was used in so many vehicles (Audi and VW) that parts are readily available. Therefore locgically, an engine swopped Mk1 has to be a 1.8t. Cheaper to upgrade, more power and more parts available.

Sien nou eers die video. Hierdie enjin is deur VW Motorsport gebou deur n goeie vriend Smittie van VW Motorsport. Daar is net drie van hierdie Mk 1's gebou. n Geel een is in VW se museum in Uitenhage. Daar is ook n blou een vir n persoon in Kaapstad gebou, maar is later afgeskryf. Hierdie een is die Eerste een wat gebou is. Sy registrasie was CT 21 en was n hit in Ceres. Het hom later in Ceres verkoop aan iemand in Ceres.

Looks nice, but a money shift hazard with the current gear selection issue. You actually need a specialist to set the gears correctly, most people can't do it at normal alignment shops. 1.8t seems like a good choice for a mk1, but to make power you would eventually need to rods on them, which will make it quite expensive. There's no budget build with turbo conversions, my choice is 2.0 8v turbo with an ady block and Mexico head. The long block is a good combo for 20v/16v turbo setups.
