First pushrod Porsche engine you ever worked on, hey? Those 'holes' in the top of the rocker boxes is to vent them - and excess oil - into the breather. That, plus the external oil cooler and the Bursch exhaust tells me someone tried to soup up this engine. When you sprayed the Brake Clean into the rocker boxes, you washed all the CRUD down the pushrod tubes, now it can intermingle with the oil and get circulated to the bearings... not a good idea. HEY, here's an atta-boy!! Putting a finger off a rubber glove over the oil fitting so you did leak oil all over or get contaminates in the oil lines.

You guessed it! I figured it out shortly after recording and replaced those bleader plugs since previous owner used some sort of silicone and overall was a mess. Yes, it was clear evidence that someone was trying out some aftermarket solutions which didn’t help the engine. The engine oil was changed twice after all the cleaning before it ran again, so most of the CRUD went bye bye, wasn’t worried. Gotta learn somehow, they don’t call em toys for no reason 😌

I came down on you pretty hard, and for that I apologize. I forget in my old age that I... too... learned by doing. 60+ years ago I was building pushrod racing engines, and working on a 4-cam engine (904-012). Hell, I even installed a 1500cc 4-cam out of a 550 Spyder in a VW bug, back in the 60's. (Scariest car I ever drove)! I'll check out your other video's... Carl

Both heads are the same on side is venting to the oil filler, the other side (driver) is plugged with a rubber plug and a metal insert.
