Thanks for sharing how you clean your Coach Engine Brian. I need to clean my engine too. I love my old coach, but you are correct, it can be stressful and expensive to operate & maintain. Pulled my coach from storage and discovered my alternator was not charging. It is always something!

I've always wanted to pressure wash the engine from inside on my 98 Intrigue but was to concerned about the gritty mist. You've inspired me. Looking forward to the fuel delivery info. I felt the emotion in your voice about the stress of owning a coach. Been there brother, been there..

How did you make out? Thinking of doing the same in our diesel pusher with cover access in bedroom. Thought about taping plastic sheeting to the rim of open engine surround and bringing the sides up high enough to contain most mist but be able to get pressure washer wand through. You could cinch the plastic loosely around the wand and clean the engine with minor blowback. Simple Green works well with warm water. That handheld pump sprayer is a great idea too. Just ordered one😉

Brian, great info on pressure washing the engine. I will go the steam route and my M11 450 is dirty to say the least! I keep a complete fuel filter replacement in my bay for any emergencies! RV's in general are depreciating assets! If you are able to do most of the work, you are good to go, if not, you better have deep pockets! This year alone, I figured I have saved well over 5k on my own repairs.

I have found engine washing messy and cumbersome but rewarding. I’m the kind that keeps eye on things always. We have found it to be much more stressful traveling by other methods then our motorhome so it’s definitely worth the effort!

A clean engine bay usually means an owner maintains the rest coach as well.

Love the energy that’s created for me to think about getting inside and pressure washing my rig! Thomyt

Glad to see you use simple green instead of engine degreaser. I tried that in front of my house my neighbors would freak. Kind of a stuffy neighborhood :-) looks good.

I'm wanting to clean our coach engine too. It's a 2003 Newmar Dutch Star DP with a Cat 3126 E. You said yours is a mechanical 8.3, so you don't have an ECM to worry about getting wet and messing up. Love that large bed access to the engine. Love the how to tech videos.

Your right about the stress of owning a motor home. Some days it’s a love / hate relationship others it’s awesome. But I’m not giving up.

Brian, I do that once a year, sometimes twice. Just cover the alternator, you would not want water in it. I believe the engine runs smoother, when it gets washed. True, working on a clean engine is satisfying. I also do the gen set. Great videos. Will be in your area in the spring, hoping to meet up with you for a chat and coffee.

A clean engine sheds heat better and does always seem to run smoother 🙂 plus as Brian pointed out, should you get a leak, you can better locate the source. My Cummins manual actually recommends steam cleaning the engine occasionally.

It is stressful. I've had a knee and shoulder replaced this year and have not been able to do some upgrades and simple maintenance on my coach. I think that after my surgeries and better mobility I can get back into the swing of taking care of my bus. Great video on washing the engine. Mine needs it too.

I was thinking a Prevost was in your future but I can feel your pain. RVing can be so good until it isn't. Cleaning the engine bay might be a precursor to selling.... Looking forward to those follow up videos.

Motorhomes are to be stress free .................RIGHT........ Retirement an all... i can imagine ... I am interested in buying one but when i look at the prices.... OMG.... 3, 2, a half mill.... i'm trying to understand that one... forget finance charges and insurance... My home wasnt nearly that much... plus i can do a lot of the work myself to it; though I have insurance for anything that goes wrong; its just that i have to keep an eye on the people they send over to do the work..............RIGHT Well..... maybe i will get lucky on a motorcoach... thats why i watch your videos.... they are very interesting.. an you make the transitions so easy to interpret...Well good luck with your machine... 💎🖐🦍💪💪💪

Hey Brian, you ever thought about straight piping it out the turbo? Have you heard one that is? I wouldn’t be worried about highway speed, more how loud it would be idling around the campground loops…

I pressure wash the engine bay and undercarriage of old Dynasty a couple times a year. Usually after returning home if I've had to drive it in foul weather. I like to keep a clean engine bay so I can detect leaks plus I hate working on a greasy grimy engine. Owning an older coach can be stressful knowing there is upkeep to be done but also I know my coach bumper to bumper and especially how it has been maintained. Sometimes I think it may be more stressful owning a newer one that is not proven itself to me. I've never pressure washed mine from the inside however. That's a new one on me, I'd be worried about moisture and splashing in the interior. Mike
