It's really neat having you explain the engineering behind the tools. I never knew so much was put into the engineering of a power tool.

Great break down, I got this in a two pack impact driver and drill for a discounted price about a year and a half to two years ago and for what it is it's quite handy. Granted it's a 12v so you aren't going to be doing anything "heavy duty" with it, but then again that's not what it was designed for. Overall it's been a great durable tool. It's survived at least 3 15+ foot drops one of those being more than 20 ft. It's one tough SOB and it's drill brother is equally as impressive if not more so.

I am a home remodeler and I carry this thing with me as a supplement to my big impact. Can use it to zip off cabinet doors, put in lock sets, that sort of thing. If I can get away using this thing all day it's much more comfortable. It fits in the tray of my tool box and I can use it for a week or so on the 2ah battery without having to charge it. Wish ridgid's 12v line saw more support, there are much better and more powerful 12v tools on the market these days. But this one is so comfortable. The rubber overmolding on tools is really nice not just for comfort but so you can put your tools down on someone's floor or inside their brand new $500 cabinet without it scratching anything. P.s. The drill is amazing to use in combination with another drill as a predriller for a bigger bit or with a countersink.

Great brand and the Lifetime Warranty is outstanding 👍🏻. it's to bad that the RIDGID R86211B is no longer available. Best 1/2 High Torque Wrench that was put out, TTI pulled the plug it was out shinning Milwaukee in its category at that time.

Have it (duo) since 5 years. Good but three four things dislike: 1) The default 2 Ah battery doesn't have any charge level indicator. Not even on the charger. 2) Light is partly blocked by the tool. 3) As far as I know, the drill and impact driver are the only 12V tools Ridgid ever developped. So you cannot get any other tools that use the same 12V batteries. Exctremely limiting. 4) The 12V is the same price as their 18V, so I consider the 12V to be a bit pricey.

Rigid consumer tool. looks descent but the milwaukee fuel only costing another $50 bucks and it out performs the 18V version of this is a no brainer.

That is unfortunate, but they may be coming out with 18v versions that are just as small as the 12v stuff so could be a sick upgrade. Thanks for the info!

Rigid has the best warranty of any of the top manufacturers. Rigid has a limited lifetime warranty. Milwaukee, and Dewalt doesn’t. They will fix the tool, until it’s not fixable, or cost effective, then give you a new one!!!

I 100% agree. They even warrenty their batteries, which is unheard of. I have personally used their warrenty and they followed through. Thanks for the comment!
