Is Engineered Fuel better than Pump Gas? Engineered fuel is supposed to burn cleaner, provide better fuel efficiency, better long-term storage (up to 5 years), better lubricating properties, 92+ octane, and contain fuel stabilizers. 4-cycle engineered fuel compared to non-ethanol 91 octane fuel for lubricating properties, fuel efficiency, carbon buildup, burn quality, and performance in a timed run using the Farmabago.

I seen a lady that has a shop and works on small engines. She tested Trufuel, with regular gas and an oil mix. Her oil mix did better in testing. She had a tachometer and showed the difference in RPM between the 2 fuels. Trufuel, had lower idle, and about 600 RPM lower top RPM. For a chain saw that's a lot of RPM loss.

@@Mike-cb7gt Yes, that's exactly what I do, use Aspen as the last couple of runs before storage to wash any ethanol out. We can't get ethanol-free fuel in the UK (or at least, I would love to know where). The best "pump gas" as Americans would term it, is a brand in the UK called "Texaco", whose Premium E5 petrol is supposed to be actually close to E0.

@@bertgrau3934 Yes, interesting video from "Chickanic". She's great. I wish she had tested Aspen fuel, because Chickanic has issues with Trufuel and I think (not certain) that the Aspen, Stihl and Husqvarna canned fuels are true Alkylated Fuel, whereas some commenters on KZbin say that Trufuel isn't quite the same quality. This would explain why Bre (Chickanic) has issues with Trufuel but we (in Europe) think Alkylated Aspen Fuel never gives issues with long storage.

In my experience it feels like it's better for you, though not necessarily your machine, than regular fuel. This is mostly when used in things like trimmers, chain saws or other small machines that you work with in close. After a day my head doesn't feel quite as mushy. I was told this was due to there being no Benzene in the exhausts. It's still not good for you to suck it up all day, just, allegedly, less bad... Still the price is quite hefty, so I use it selectively. If there's just a little wind the exhausts usually isn't much of a problem. Edit: I was also told it doesn't gunk up the carburetor the way regular fuel can do if you leave it in the engine for a year or so.

I do not use my 2-stroke equipment very often, only a couple times a year. So I buy the engineered premixed fuel, there are two can’s sitting on the shelf in my shed, when I need to use my chainsaw I fill the gas tank with this fuel, fire it up and go. When finished, I empty whatever is left in the gas tank into my lawnmower and run the carburetor on my chainsaw dry. Then put my chainsaw back into storage. If you’re not going to be using very much of the engineered fuel it is a great way to keep your equipment in tip top usable condition. If you go through a lot of it, like the lawn mower, just plain old E-free fuel is cheaper. Once again a great video, and I bet your neighbors just love you when you run the Farmabago. Lol

This is amazing, I'd be very interested to see a test of this in a 50:1 2 cycle, that's where I tend to use enginerded fuel and where I've historically had the most issues that I at least in my head associated with ethanol. True-fuel pre-mixed (stihl moto-mix, husqvarna, etc.) vs. ethanol and ethanol-free fuel mixed at home. Comparing with ethanol is especially useful as not everyone can actually find ethanol free gas other than enginerded fuels (like me)

I'm a cabinet maker and testing blades will take a lot of material. A good Amana 10" melamine cutting blade can cut upwards of 20 to 30 sheets (4ftx8ft, 3/4" thick) of cabinet parts before being blunted enough to need resharpening. A plywood blade can cut twice as many before being blunted. You also have a HUGE variable in feed speeds and chiploading, especially with blades cutting hardwood. Project Farm, if you decide to do this, please reach out to me. I think I could offer helpful advice on how this might work for testing purposes.

@@SchuboxProductions liquid gasoline is never really the concern. Gasoline vapors on the other hand are hella dangerous. In the bearing tests, it's important to note that he had nearly 500 watts of power heating the bearings, which were being cooled by the gasoline, meaning that the liquid gas was mostly absorbing that 500 watts. Gasoline is volatile enough, heating it just increases the rate at which it evaporates and is just a recipe for disaster. The only thing missing from the equation was an ignition source.

@@gearloose703 Don't get confused with teh base stock, once it's cracked or hydrolized, and the end result is 'gasoline' it is in fact the same thing. Now the additive package may be different, but the base spirits of the fuel would be the same. Starting with LPG means they're 'gluing' chains together to get the stuff in gasoline, like octane for example. that's an 8 carbon chain molecule, it would take 8 single carbon methane molecules to form it, and you'd have some hydrogen left over. Cracking long chain molecules down, means you'd start with say decane (10 carbons) and then get one octane molecule, and one ethane (2 carbons) and still some hydrogen left over. I'm over simplifying, but that's the basic idea, almost like nuclear fission and fusion. One tears apart, the other combines together.

@@kleetus92 gasoline is a mix of all sorts of things and crap, alkylate gasoline should be a lot more "refined" and homogenous? Same for gtl gasoline?

Well that was another impressive test for trufuel, I'm absolutely loving the exhaust. On that Winnebago, little bit of buildup in the piston head. I have never heard of trufuel before, really is an impressive product from my opinion.👍👍👍👍👍 excellent

I’m curious how the lubricity test would go on regular gas with sta-bil added.

You could check a variety of gas additives that claim to increase the lubricity of gas. Same with diesel additives.

@@bobjones37450 I believe gasoline engines require the gasoline to cool the cylinders to operate efficiently, where in diesel engines they require the diesel fuel to lubricate the cylinders. And from what I understand high octane gasoline burns cooler, and low octane pump gas burns hotter and more violent.

gittyupalice96 actually vise versa on the octane ratings on a properly jetted 4 stroke carbureted air cooled motor. Higher octane has higher combustion temperatures versus a lower octane rating.

The motorcyclists that watch your channel would love to see a battle of the popular synthetic and conventional motorcycle oils. Mobil 1, valvoline, Castrol, quicksilver, liquimoly, amsoil, shell advance, shell rotella T4 and T6 (a TON of motorcycle owners use rotella!)
