Engineered Wood Screws- Technical Insights and Design Implications | March 2024 | Francisco Bejarano

In this presentation Francisco will talk about the technical implications of our connectors, focused on details for timber screws. Rothoblaas have developed lots of research and studies about the main technical insights for these products, which are presented on two main documents: the European Technical Assessment ETA-11/0030 (attached) and the Smartbook for Timber Screws. These public open documents detail the calculations and a variety of implications related to the capacities of these elements, that constitute the basis of the structural design. The main aspects of both documents will be explained, looking to give enough information for their use in the local market.

Francisco Rodríguez Bejarano is a wood enthusiast construction engineer, graduated in 2014 in the Costa Rican Institute of Technology. Participant of the Solar Decathlon France 2014 with the project Tropika, winner of the Public Choice Award. Worked with local timber in the construction and remodeling of a variety of projects. Performed as Technical Director of Ekojunto Ltda, a company that developed a construction system based on plastic wood made out of recycled plastic. Since 2019 working with Rothoblaas SRL, first as Technical Sales Representative of the company for Costa Rica and Central America. In 2022 moved to Spain to course the Master in Timber's Structure, Design and Construction of the University of the Basque Country, working in parallel as a Technical Consultant since then
