I just discovered Tibees yesterday as I was getting ready for my theoretical physics exam.. And then I found your channel. I was born in Romania where you can find many other stories like this. I was born in the town where the largest romanian fertilizer producing plant called Azomures is. You can smell ammonia even in the city center. As far as I understand it's easier for the factory to keep paying penalities than to finance the tech-upgrades. In Romania local people got so used to see stories like this. It's really hard to believe in change when you don't see anything for ages. I really respect people who don't leave the country and plan their careers there.

I wonder why the bypass was created and construction started if the project wasn't fully funded to start off with?
@RiverTechJess5 жыл бұрын
The project was fully funded but then the tunnel collapsed and they didn’t account for that. The bypass was created because this river alone barely creates any energy. But they decided to dam it and divert the little stream to the turbines anyways. It’s greedy

@@RiverTechJess that's so unfair to the people downstream, especially if there wasn't any major benefit to anyone

We do a lot more undaming now in the US. Lots of off channel reservoirs which are less impactful to the environment. With that model you have to do pumped storage to develop hydropower.
@RiverTechJess5 жыл бұрын
Ya I think we have a bit of that over here too! When there's excess power you pump and store it until you need power again.

Hay, can you recomended up to date handbook for mechanical enginerring student?thanks a lot

sorry I don't know of 1 handbook 😂I dont think these exist? Mostly I've used school textbooks.

Cleaning the river with the locals?Now that would be something that would require an engineering mind, considering the sheer size of rubble and waste at the dam site which ought to be removed.
@RiverTechJess5 жыл бұрын
Exactly, we could tackle those big objects. Especially because the river is steep like a canyon in some places.

Money rules !! Whether it's in "1st World" countries or in "3rd World" countries, the problems vary but the causes of such problems are all the same and have always been the same. Such projects are advertised to look appealing to the "less informed" public, and in some cases sugar-coated enough to make people demand things that are bad for them in the long run !! Kudos to you for trying to make a change despite all odds ✌

Thanks Rabab for understanding and being so open minded. That’s exactly right! It’s brainwashing people to think a certain way and have an opinion about something which they’re not informed about

some late thoughts. the short answer is: with all things being equal, hydropower can be 'green'; but, it is not technically renewable. (unless one knows how to make it rain.) the world, today, is driven by the profit motive. in much of the world, even health care services are driven by it. which is just stoopid. until that basis of motivation changes, in the broad, nothing else will. much of modern life is built on a foundation of pretense, such as, what money is and the, supposed, nominal functioning of governmental entities. in the (happily oblivious) US, there are serious issues, in the Accepted ways that the civil courts operate. anyway. here, you are dealing with a fait accompli; something that has already happened. remediation is, definitely, a worthy goal. but, frequently, it requires a non-profit aegis, in order for it to happen. the character of present and near future decisions that people make will continue, unchanged. on the other hand, until major change takes place, globally, it is good that some people 'shine a light' on the results, of our collective Poor judgment. cheers googletranslate

Basically Hydro-Québec is a big myth.
@RiverTechJess5 жыл бұрын
I think it might be different because in quebec we have so much water and big rivers and not that many dams. Whereas in the EU there are no more big rivers and now they're going after damming every little river too
@eastafricakingdom745 жыл бұрын
Does it also have something to do with Gazprom in eastern Europe ?

Hydropower dams are responsible for altering nature's river systems. This affects plant and animal habitats, thereby creating an imbalance in the ecosystem 😭

Math Tricks is it really that big of a deal? The surface of the earth has been reformed millions of times in places and there have been at least 5 mass extinction events... all of which were natural. You could also argue that since humans are natural, our consequences are natural too.
@RiverTechJess5 жыл бұрын
But the people here rely on the river for food. We should let them go extinct too?
@_Nibi5 жыл бұрын
STEMinine it’s just part of earths cycle. If we try to conserve it, that’s natural as well.
@DavidLindes5 жыл бұрын
@@_Nibi: there's some truth to what you're saying, but it's coming across as an abdication of all responsibility for anything we do, which... I find deeply problematic. Yes, the things we do are natural parts of us, the same way a spider web is a natural part of a spider, but... we're doing things at _such scales_ that... to not pay attention to the impacts is just deeply selfish, greedy, and harmful.
