I realize this is a paid advertisement for Anduril, but I think this should be explicitly stated at the beginning of the video and not just with the "Includes paid promotion" tag. Especially with a channel like this it's important to ask critical questions when it comes to challenging topics such as weapons manufacturing, and not just right out glorify it.

Hey Acutus, thanks for the comment! We agree that this is a challenging topic and something we, and everyone, should be asking critical questions about. That's why we covered this topic before, in our War Bots episode of our editorial series Uprising, and will continue to cover it editorially in the future. For our partnership with Anduril, we wanted to give our audience a chance to engage with the perspectives of people who are on the frontlines of this topic. With all of the videos we make in partnership with brands and companies, the goal is never to glorify their work, but rather to engage thoughtfully, charitably, earnestly, honestly, and never cynically, with the perspective they have to offer. We don't know if any singular person or company has the answers, per se, but we do think it's important that our audience is allowed to grapple with their perspective and come to their own conclusions. This is indeed produced as a paid partnership with Anduril. We try to make our partnerships clear and obvious by adding the “Includes paid promotion” tag, mentioning it in the first line of the written description, and putting it in the title card of the video. But if that’s not clear enough, we’ll definitely fix it in the future. Thanks for mentioning it so that we have the chance to solve it. Partnerships like this one are what make Freethink possible, and we feel lucky that we’re able to work with partners whose perspectives we believe are important and worth sharing. And, audience members like you are what make Freethink a real community. If you have any other questions, please keep asking.

I heard one side claiming that ppl are basically inherently good, and just the plight of the world, mostly the circumtenses which revert us back to be savages to each other. And then I heard as the other side states that we are always only a few steps from anarchy, chaos, cut throat mentality relentless fight for resources and survival. Idk who is right maybe both right and wrong in ways. I can understand how a society finally built on excess and well being would change most ppl in the right direction, as fight with each other for survival ceased, probably a lot of conflict would just dissapear. But then again, there still the stress for status, power which only possible with even more resources (at this point its not about survival its about dominance) as well as the possibility as the ampleness goes away (and it might time to time) so does this "ideal civilization" and with it the hard fought general decency to each other. However, the thing is, if we never try to setup this idealistic low conflict, low violence, abundance based, just society, we will never know if it can last or not.

I call my concept. The Convergence. It's a Sound-Laser, Drone mounted, non lethal, Ultra low frequency Negotiator. Ultra low frequency can cause a myriad of symptoms, and physical pain. Things like mass confusion, muscle fatigue, a heart attack, anxiety, paranoia, and can even broadcast actual human voices directly to an individual's ear drum (voices in your head)... and when used as a single targeting system, in eco mode would stay on site for many hours and never runs out of acoustic "ammo". The Convergence of existing tech is available right now. Facial recognition, laser, soundlasers, unmanned drone, with abort switch and in a combat could have a self destruct mode, or Kamikaze mode with a small rdx package next to the volatile batteries. The frame of the aircraft could be filled with lethal and nonlethal gasses for CQB missions. State of the art cameras with IR, night vision hyper-zoom..., for incredible surveillance missions.. In the event of an EMP, a miniature, mechanical craft could be jettisoned and all sensitive data would proceed to a preset (safe) zone. Maybe use microburst of compressed air to maneuver the hellium filled escape pod... or something else. Insulation where needed would be aerogel and hellium in the frame (when not carrying a gas) Under human, abort enabled guidance the Convergence would follow current hostage negotiations laws, and only escalate when authorized by the human. It's only self defense would be Evasion, and move to a safe observation hover. In non lethal mode the soundlaser mode could be used as a great negotiator directly to the target's ears...or dial it up as an effective crowd control, all while providing a surveillance platform. An all in one concept. make the small ones first, man-portable first, then build the ones mounted on planes. Using micro-tech, minimalistic thinking, combined with material sciences... these tech components, ultra light weight materials, A.I. structural design and 3d printable could make this a mass ptoduction, cheap alternative to the trilion $ Jet. Perhaps with proper shielding, EMP could be minimized, but that's not my area of expertise... Your thoughts...?

@Bottle Jack27 Department of Defense is just Department of War. If you wish to resort to "name calling" then so be it... go on, call me pro this and anti that as much as it helps you sleep at night. I never denied historical evidence. War is a major part of our history but the current world we live in is peaceful because of international trade, if that's too complicated to understand for you then I can't really help. You are mixing history with the current situation, perhaps you mean to point to the fact that war was the major motivation for most of the technological advancements of the 20th century, and yes that's correct but it also came with millions of lives and unimaginable horrors. However, your justification of "defense" is the only reason why war would be with humanity, because people will keep justifying "defense". It's very simple to justify "defense" like that, even a child could do it, maybe that should alone be a reason to think twice. I'm not suggesting a demilitarized worldview. Nations around the world will always keep progressing their military, that's okay... but it shouldn't become a focal point of progress in the 21st Century.

You said AI powered sensor fusion "Network".... Here comes the most sophisticated network attack that would not hamper your product but just leverage it for adversarial advantage. IFF is not an easy task to achieve even with RSA encryption / authentication and networks with such a lucrative bounty for nation state actor would be like a all in dive for strategic leverage.

I understand the military (tax payers) pay handsomely for defence contracts, but putting all of that talent in tools for the military is irresponsible. There's better uses for all of that talent.

Can you imagine working for this company? Every day a new meeting where people speak in corporate cliche; each presentation a Ted talk about allies and warfighters and synergy. A company's culture grows out of the CEO, and you can tell that guy is a little defective. Sad and hilarious at the same time.

It’s not that you could mount a sniper rifle on 3axis gimbal. You would simply tilt the drone instead of the rifle. And even with that.. you can’t do precision shots out of a plane, that’s why gunships and large army drones use sentry guns or rockets.instead of sniper rifles to take out single targets.

These kind of technologies could help Ukraine to save a lot of innocent lives under the fascist russian invasion. Palmer, please consider sharing this tech with the Ukrainian army. This could be a perfect test case for the Anduril and a much needed support for the suffering people of Ukraine.

How are you going to ensure it will not be misused? What if the government uses this tech against their own civilians?
@samjubilee65934 жыл бұрын
The same can be said for any tech, from swords to canon to muskets to rifles to repeating rifles (Sharps repeating fire rifles 1st used by union in U.S. Civil War), to ironclads (Monitor & Merrimac) to... But agreed that keeping governments from using arms (tech) for evil, whether against their own citizens or against innocent foreign nations or individuals, has always been the main issue. One way of looking at it is good vs evil. Because both exist, the struggle will never cease until one side or the other wins. Evil will appear to have won when the antichrist (or beast as he is called in the book of Revelation) takes over the new world order, which will have evolved into a (planned all along) one world totalitarian government. But antichrist's reign will be short-lived, terminated by the return of Jesus Christ to set up his millenial reign (from Jerusalem) on this earth. Satan will be thrown into the bottomless pit, and good (God) triumphs over evil.

Better than the Chinese government using this technology on American civilians because Americans were too busy fretting about ethics instead of maintaining their technological supremacy.

Not his responsibility, you as a citizen and apart of the electorate have to ensure that the government is held accountable.
