I am confused with interpreting the result of Push Over analysis. Sorry for the basic question, please bear with me. Once you generated all the possible plastic hinging, in terms of engineering, what would happen next? I mean how will I interpret this result to be used in the final design/ assessment? Also, I am finding it difficult to wrap my head around the column developing plastic hinge. Isn't that what seismic code is trying to prevent in stating the strong column weak beam requirements? Would love to hear your thoughts. Btw, thank you for the great video.

Thanks for the response. I appreciate it. My question is how will the result of the Push Over Analysis be used in design (PBD) or in the assessment of existing buildings? Also, can you please clarify, "hinge formation is the indication of member failure"? My understanding is that when plastic hinging occurs there is an increase of rotation/displacement without an increase in force. Not necessarily failure because there is a potential stress redistribution. Failure will occur once a hinged member no longer has the means to redistribute the force since other members have exhausted its plastic capacity. I would appreciate clarification on this.

Normally we assume that there is no hinge formation at the base column. You can make hinges there as well.

wrong approach on the gravity. what's the use defining U3 monitored displacement when you apply a full load? also you don't need multiple states. only final state..... then in the push load you want monitored displacement correct but then you click on conjugate displacement. decide which of two..... study before you upload videos.
