Hi EngrProfPH, I would like to clarify the meaning of "ideal" in the IGL. Basically, a gas will be assumed ideal if the conditions are at higher temperature and lower pressure since at these condition, we can say that the attractive forces within gas molecules are negligible. Also, IGL calculation seems to be the simple approach for gas property calculation. However, we would not generalize that each gas must behave at ideal conditions since we have so called "real" gases which can be evaluated using its compressibility factor.

A steady state device has the following conditions of the working substance at the entrance: pressure equals 100 psia and density is 62.4 lbm/ft3. If 10,000 ft3/min of this fluid enters the system, determine the exit velocity if the area exit is 2 ft2?

Sir good afternoon. Air is pumped into a cubic foot tank until the pressure is 135 psig. When the pump is stopped, the temperature is 200 degrees F. (a) What is the mass the tank? What is its density? (b) if the air is allowed to cool at 70 degrees F what is the pressure and its density? R constant = 53.342 ft lbf/ lbm R I convert the Psig to P abs, F to R and in^2 to ft^2 then apply the Ideal Gas law i got the mass Then i compute density m/v For the second question i used the mass and the same volume in part 1 to calculate the Pabs And i got the same density Is that right sir?

Yes thats correct. Since the volume is constant after it stopped pumping..

Hi! Depende po sa given na gas constant. Kapag ang given is universal gas constant (given per mol), use n or the number of moles of a certain gas. If given ka po ng indidvidual gas constant (given per mass), use m or the given mass of that gas. It all depends kung ano po yung given na type of gas constant. Feel free to ask questions. Thank you!☺️

14.7 psi po is standard atmospheric pressure at sea level. 1 atm = 101.325 kPa = 14.7 psi
