In the second circuit ,what did happened to 24 resister?

Because the independent source (the 15amp current source) is removed by opening the switch,the switch is open it means that the part which has the current source and also 24 OHM RESISTOR is NOT CONNECTED with the circuit,the time at this moment is greater than 0.All this is done in order to find the current of a source free RL circuit,since the 24ohm resist. is in that part where source is so it was not possible to remove the source leaving the R in connection with the circuit.This is why it has to be removed.
