Back in the day, when noone else was free I'd jack up the front of the car, put blocks beneath the engine, let the down car down, then lift like hell! It's amazing what you can do when you must!

🤔 I know you would have drained all the oil out before you did anything there but... I'm fairly sure there's supposed to be more residual oil than that 😅 also that engine looks so fresh! The fact it needed to come out is a testament to whoever did the work on it previously 😂

Easy fix. My engine lift got nicked. But I do remember picking it up second hand for £120 from a chicken farmer in my scorpio shape granada with my woman at the time. We had to go down a very rough dirt track for about half a mile somewhere in essex. My woman was not best pleased. Bloody heavy thing, fuck knows how they nicked it over a 6 foot wall and then 8 foot gates.

I have 2 cars with a combined age of 96 years- the hardest part is to find a mechanic who knows how to fix a car without a obd2 port... also the younger car of the 2 keeps breaking... the older one will probably survive us all

That’s how you get 4 persons, and a bit of luggage, in a 305cms long car. The engine is on top of the gearbox (clever), and share the oil (not so clever...).

​@@procrastinatingnerd the longevity? Well there are some of them around from the 1960's. It's when you start messing around with them they fail. My 1275 with stage 2 cam ate gearboxes and clutches till i got a metro turbo box on it. Poor thing got thrashed everywhere.

@@LOOKMUMNOCOMPUTER yamaha tunes their intake/exhaust tracts using the same engineering they've put into wind instruments when they build engines like the R1 or collaborate with toyota on the GE line of heads for some of their legendary high performance engines. you don't get exhaust. you get a symphony of torque and horsepower controlled by variable length runners, variable valve timing and variable intake pressure. I'd really like to see what a dude like you could do with that information to quite literally control an engine's exhaust volume, pitch, and tone. e.g. when all said and done, you can plug a midi keyboard into the back of the car, and play the exhaust.
