I do not understand how Steve Bull never went onwards. He was a shining light that seemingly went out.
@kebabtank Жыл бұрын
Yeah, he definitely earned his place on the plane to Italy, but he didn't really do much else unfortunately. I do recall him missing a glorious chance against the Dutch in our second group game. What might have been.

Shows how the game has changed. Gazza would have been sent off after that challenge at the start, and it would have killed the game dead if it was today.

Gazza wouldn't get sent off now but he would probably get a yellow, just as he should have back then. Challenges like that were and are rightfully bookable. He put in two similar ( but worse ) challenges against Forest in the F.A.Cup final in 91 but because he injured himself in the process ( and because the ref hadn't booked him for the first one ) he got carried off injured rather than sent off. The narrative changed from what should have been - Gazza let us down, to what happened - let's do this for Gazza. There were these two sides to his game. Undoubtedly the most talented player of that generation and we haven't really seen the like of him since. Still, he could also be a liability at times.

@@annandune Yep he went in with too much aggression and a lack of precision, no doubt that had been encouraged at some stage of his career and he felt he was showing committment to the team, but he was a danger to players, including himself as it turned out, when he did it. Some of his managers surely tried to get him out of the habit, but if they did so it was to no avail. It might have been better for him if he had been sent off in this game.

This Gascoigne went on to perform in the same way at the World Cup but after May 1991, I still maintain that he never came back the same player.

If you're watching Ron Saunders? Thanks 4 practically GIVING us this genius. & do you remember saying "Steve Bull couldn't score goals at any level" Well he certainly proved you wrong on that point Ron. In fact Ronnie me boy, he made you look a bit of a title really didn't he? Nobby Stiles, as WBA 1st team coach could see the potential in him, so as WBA manager why couldn't you? NO WONDER THEY FUCKED YOU OFF THICKO

Skhuravy was a very good forward, a consistent scorer for Genoa (who he joined after Italia 90) for four or five seasons before he left them. In retrospect another Italian side should have picked him up when they saw how well he did for Genoa, but perhaps they were wise enough not to let him go.

@Dead-Ball-Situation4 ай бұрын
The fault was with Hodge I think in the wall who moved left and created space for the ball to go through. However, if you watch Seaman carefully, he does take a slight step to his left too, so you could argue both a little bit at fault, although Hodge probably more so.

Given that his goals (3 in 4 games) for England were not enough to secure a good run in team shows just how biased the media and hierarchy are in football. all because crybaby Lineker couldn't take the Black country handshake that Bully gave him for cheeking him.
