I like women's football. I think you have to acquire the taste for it somehow, get to understand the nuances. I like village cricket but international test matches and even T20 bore me. But most importantly, England (I am Welsh btw) thrash Scotland away, and the England supporters don't feel the need to invade the ground and vandalise the pitch.

The average height of a women’s team goalkeeper is 7 inches (about 18cm) less than for men at the top level. Imagine how many more goals would be scored by the men if the goals were 18cm wider and taller!

Ok, some here are arguing for, and against, equal pay. I, personaly, would love to see these girls get the same amount of money but, let's be sensible and non-emotional about it; in a sport that is now all about generating revenues the men's game stands out a mile. For example, when the Barcelona women's team play a domestic game the average attendance is roughly three to five thousand, now compare that to the attendance levels of a men's Barcelona domestic match - anything between 60 to 90 thousand. Of course, there are exceptions in the women's game - this weekend we have the 'El Clasico' between Barcelona and Real Madrid, that should pull in a far greater attendance level but it's really a one off situation. So, taking the obvious into account, it's not a financially viable proposal to pay women footballers the same amount as the men. Some people need to be put aside their political correctness for this one and be a little more forgiving and switch into a pragmatic gear. Come the day, as I'm sure it will, when the women's game does pull in vast crowds then the equal pay arguement will be undeniable and will no doubt come into effect. And, to coin a phrase; "Don't take it personal - it's just business". As for 'skill levels' - Alexia Putellas runs rings around most male players but that just isn't enough of a reason to pay her tens of millions per annum, even if she could cook pancakes with one hand, play with a yoyo with the other and keep a ball off the ground with her head all at the same time, it just ain't enough! So, to sum up, you can't pay a person/team more than they generate. Some men's football clubs have fallen into that situation provoking the all too familiar term, 'looming bankruptcy' within the game.

@davidr3986 : witht the exception that women will never play to the same standard aas men so, playing the same game and drawing crowds in, doesn't in my mind equal doing the same work as men. Just look at the results of transgenders in womens sports - the women CANNOT compete equally.

Until women actually physically support the game they crow and pout about equal pay, it will remain a minor distraction in the grand scheme of world sports. If guys like this sport, it's not for the quality of the football skills, that is certain. The quality is just not there, for me and for the vast majority of guys and for an awful lot of football-loving women - they prefer to watch the men's game.

The skill level, of women is fine, but playing Scotland men/women/kids is never going to test you, they're rubbish at football. In the men's game I don't see skill, I see running and that's it. There's a few World class players but they're few and far between over the last 15 yrs.

Millions of boys play football from the moment they can stand , and continue for decades. Womens football , in England , really only took off since the Euros. Hundreds of teams have started up in the last 2 or 3 years, with thousands of players , but they are all at amateur level. Given time, with the increase in numbers, the skill level will rise. Will they ever beat men? No. See Drends answer. Does not stop the sexists bringing up games against 15 year olds from 8 years ago , though.

@@leeedsonetwo He is obviously challenged in at least one department. Only one team asked for equal WC prize money , and they negotiated their contract almost two years ago. So no equal ' pay ' involved. And two years ago. And no other team has asked for it. Sorry Paul , you do seem to be dimmer than a dim light bulb.
