And this is why England are the #1 ODI team in the world. I've been a cricket lover ever since I started playing in the school 2nd XI (I ended up captain of the 1st XI). Throughout the 70s and 80s, the England team could be relied upon to wrest defeat from the tightly-clenched jaws of victory. There were that many times that England managed to make me groan and cover my eyes... what a transformation! Nowadays, you EXPECT England to tick off a run chase, or bowl out the opposition in the 4th innings in a Test Match. I'm proud again to watch England play.

Root, England's anchor player, made his hundred quicker than Gayle. Run rate is the key, along with batting line up strategy. England have the most incredible batting line up strategy in the world - openers blast it. If they get out cheaply, Root / Morgan consolidate. If they don't, Morgan smashes it. Then the batting runs all the way down to Woakes who has 10 first class hundreds to his name, and one test hundred. With Stokes, Buttler, Ali all ready to come in. This England team is borderline unbeatable, as we saw in last WC.
