Trent has one bad season and it’s “oh Trent can’t defend” and everyone forgets the other 6-7 seasons where he COULD defend. Last season he didn’t put a foot wrong defensively and not a peep from the media. I remember Gary saying something stupid before that Trent can’t be trusted in knockout games, yeah sure, is this the same player that’s won 5 out of the 7 finals we’re talking about? Can’t be.

He can defend (not amazingly - but decent enough) but at some point he decided to think he was a right winger and I genuinely believe he sub consciously made less effort defending or placed less importance on it because he finds no motivation in staying at RB. Scholesy makes a great point about Slot and Trent. Slot definitely prefers a less chaotic, risky style and sometimes trent's passing can be hit and miss. Under Klopp, he probably had the licence to hit those passes as klopp was direct.
