Carra is SPOT ON about TAA and defending. He’s below par 1v1, but he’s overall more than good enough. Calling out Walker on being poor positionally is spot on and about time.
@justinmitchell96813 ай бұрын
TAA's positioning is not great either. I agree his positives far outweigh his negatives but don't see justification for calling him defensively sound.
Walker gets out if position a lot because of the job he's asked to do at City and England if it wasn't for his speed and recovery they'd be leaking goals. I think he should play as a wide centre back if I'm honest.

Trent has one bad season and it’s “oh Trent can’t defend” and everyone forgets the other 6-7 seasons where he COULD defend. Last season he didn’t put a foot wrong defensively and not a peep from the media. I remember Gary saying something stupid before that Trent can’t be trusted in knockout games, yeah sure, is this the same player that’s won 5 out of the 7 finals we’re talking about? Can’t be.
@jasonjohnson54083 ай бұрын
He can defend (not amazingly - but decent enough) but at some point he decided to think he was a right winger and I genuinely believe he sub consciously made less effort defending or placed less importance on it because he finds no motivation in staying at RB. Problem is, despite a great delivery, he does not have the acceleration, dribbling or trickery to play further up like Salah does. Not even close.

They’re talking about at England in a final vs mbappe. If you think Trent could defend against some of the best left wingers you are pissed mate honestly. He’s the 3rd most dribbled against player in the premier league, behind 2 Brentford players. If he’s getting worse at defending that’s frightening when most right backs got better at defending throughout their career. He’s not as good as you think. Honestly in a final againist France he would get battered. You know this yourself. I’m not saying he shouldn’t start any games. G.Nev "it should be illegal not to have Trent playing for England" Also G.Nev over the last 4-5 years highlighting every single mistake he makes and insinuating he can't defend and will cost in the big games. Me *Surprised pikachu face*
@jonathancampbell91333 ай бұрын
Man utd pundits are all the same when it comes to Trent. He's won everything he can win, but according to them he's a liability. If Trent moves to Madrid, they'll change their tune overnight and he'll be the best right back in the world. They've already started talking Trent up because they hope he's off next summer. Jealousy is a terrible, terrible thing.
@rb2k103 ай бұрын
The two can co-exist though. There are a lot of England games where he wouldn't need to defend and can just be creative. Against Slovenia, for example, is not the same as facing Vinicius and Mbappe. Think the previous England manager wasn't canny enough with using his players and squad to good effect.

Scholesy makes a great point about Slot and Trent. Slot definitely prefers a less chaotic, risky style and sometimes trent's passing can be hit and miss. Under Klopp, he probably had the licence to hit those passes as klopp was direct.

Nah I don't think Roy's too fond of Denis. But seriously if you were to do a top 10 bargains of the premier-league era then Denis would definitely be in there. Roy would be as well even though he was the English club record signing when he joined United.

Reminder that Walker had one of the worst right-back performances of all time, while representing his country, in a Euro final, and Scholes unironically wants to talk about defensive frailties when discussing TAA. How is this a thing in September of 2024
@CombatMediaa3 ай бұрын
He’s still miles better than Trent as defending, look at premier league defending stats. Trent is the 3rd most dribbled past player in the prem behind 2 Brentford players. You literally can’t make this up😂 is Trent starts in a final against dangerous wingers he would get turned inside out
