I was in class 7 then and still remember brad's dismissal at 99 and tears in his eyes. Other memory was clapping for Manzoor ilahi after he finished his spell

Imagine having Graham Gooch in your squad and leaving him out in favour of Bill Athey to open the England batting! Never mind the fact that Gooch, unlike Athey, was a useful additional bowler, especially so when the ball was swinging!

Must have been because Gooch had missed the 86-87 Ashes.

He should have definitely been made man of the match. His innings was superior to Broad's, especially as Broad was clearly run out by a long way earlier in his knock. I suppose history provides justice as Javed will be remembered as an all time great whereas Broad probably goes down as a pretty good batsman.
