I was there with my father. I’d never seen this recording before. I remember that everyone in the seats where we were (unusual for us to be seated at a match) was already standing to cheer before Charlton hit that great shot for the record goal (which I also hadn’t realised til now) because we were all tuned to recognise that drop shoulder and change of pace. Emotional now just a day after the announcement of his death.

A great memory for you.. I myself had a similar experience in 1970 when my Grandad took me to Wembley for my 10th Birthday.. it was Bobby Charlton's 100th cap against Northern Ireland.. England won 3-1.. and Charlton scored.. he was my hero as a kid along with George Best and Pat Jennings..almost the same England team as 1966.. just before they went to Mexico for the World Cup.. Great memories.
