Lamby was playing for his cricketing life this innings. He hadn’t made a 50 since 1985 when he came into this match

Great Upload. Deep insight into a days play in late 80s. Irresistible Bowling attack from WI. You can see how free flowing actions Ambrose n Walsh had in their younger days. I thought Paul Jarvis started off in 90s. Reason I say so is Tendulkar mentioned him, after his stint for Yorkshire as the most difficult bowler he faced in England. He troubled Tendulkar a lot on Tour in 93 I guess. Over Here, Gus Logie and Dujon were beautifully balanced Players. Dujon was a class act in Tests. Played so many match turning innings for WI in the middle order. Alan Lamb was special too in 80s, until when England found Robin Smith who was equally dangerous

Robin Smith was not dangerous. He did not do well facing spin.

Graham Gooch didn't get very many here, but one of the reasons why he is amongst England's best ever batsman is that his test match average of 43.94 against those Windies sides of the 1980's - 90s is higher than his test match average overall (42.38). Few batsmen of this era can say the same! A player as fine as David Gower, for example, only averaged 32.83 against the WIndies (44.25 overall).
