England, France, Germany, Sweden are pretty much on one level. Depends on luck and form of the day. Spain is a small step ahead but can still lose to any of the mentioned teams. @@torstenkaudt4793 Spain won the 2023 World Cup handily, without any penalty shoot-out, with 15 rebellious players who asked not to be called up due to the fight with the Spanish federation, such as Mapi León, Patri Guijarro or Irene Paredes (starting players in Barça, European champion for the second consecutive year), and with an injured Alexia Putellas who did not even play (two ballon d'or). And that's not to mention that Vicky Lopez, Jana, Ari Arias, world and European champions U-17, U-19, U-21, were not there. A Spain at full power, with all its troops, Bonmatí (2 Ballon d'Or on the way), Putellas, Alba Redondo, Abelleira, Batlle, Caldentey, Hermoso, Del Castillo, Paralluelo, Carmona, Mapí León, Patri Guijarro, etc. is simply invincible even with a selection of stars from the rest of the world. Ok back to front. Keeper is excellent no problem there as Hampton will be number 1 soon. Defence - Bronze plays like a wingback and kills Bright who is basically not fit. Bright needs to be surrounded or not played into fitness in big games. I still think England are a back 3 team Midfield - in this highlight package I never saw Stanway at all yet she is an automatic pick. Toone is a finisher nit starter. We have one midfielder who really wants the ball in Walsh Forwards - mead should have played number 10 in this game. All her best work is central and she wants the ball. Plus she is the best scorer we have My team Hampton Carter Williamson Greenwood Bronze Clinton Walsh Hemp Mead Russo Kelly

It was wrong not to play Cloe Kelly on the right wing, instead of Mead who has not the speed to beat defenders, and cross the ball in a dangerous area as Kelly can. I know she scored the goal, but someone else could have done, But of course France is a very good team. Time and time again they delay passing the ball to Hemp when she in acres of space, waiting till she is tightly marked.

@@marcellogenesi6390 Yes, an attacker depends on their co-players and sometimes they mess up ... on purpose ( for several reasons, £ one of them). US is going through a transition phase. The pieces are falling into place and with a new coach they can get right back where they were 4 years ago if Emma is given the chance. I remember when they didn’t win world cups for two consecutive tournaments and people said the same thing. Germany won twice during that time. Right now Spain is winning but their emergence happen due to their specific style of play in the women’s space, no one else in women’s football was playing Barcelona tika tika. They copy what their men did and it has worked but like everything once teams are built to figure out how to play against and a new style of play emerges Spain treats will be nullified. Those top teams will figure out a way to beat Spain or erode the skills gap. Similarly how teams figure out a way to be fit and physically prepared to challenge the US. Simply they’ll find a way and it will come soon enough.

England have regressed of late. Wasteful in possession and predictable. France were the better side especially the second half. I won’t get too excited about England in this tournament sadly.

Go for Park instead of Out-of-Toone.

They were not better but neither were England. I think a draw would have been fairer. France were only quite good

This game was screaming for a striker like Rachel Williams. She's a fox in the box. Just cross it and she would score

Has the Wiegman bubble burst?. If things are going wrong she doesn't seem to have a plan B, England's defending from corners is disorganised and the subs were brought on much too late to have any meaningful effect on the match. Having lost out to qualification for the Olympics I can see England missing out in the Euros as well unless she changes something.

Spot on ,i read it the same .Toone ans Stanway were not contributing ..

@@robertpegg7251 England need to WIN on Tuesday night or they will be out, so something needs to change, but does Wiegman have the will, or even the ability, to change?. Her favoured 4-3-3- formation, with a high press, is not working and has not worked for some time. This is because having just the one central striker means the midfield should push up in support, but they haven't been doing that often enough, or quick enough, so Russo has to go hunting for the ball instead of staying where she is most effective-in front of goal. The high press just means that there are so many bodies clustered in and around the opposition penalty area that it makes it very difficult to find a clear path through to goal. And PLEASE can we stop this playing out from the back nonsense as it just seems to put us under pressure all the time and, while we are on the subject, stop all this sideways and backwards passing when there is clearly a ball on to a wide player who is in acres of space! What would I do-well, read on my friends! Change to 5-3-2, bring Greenwood back on the left of the back three, for her range of passing and dead-ball skills and put Carter over on the right, for her pace, to replace the cumbersome Bright; Willliamson stays in the middle. Hemp and Kelly play as wing-backs, with the three centre-backs giving them freedom to roam forward without leaving gaps behind (Lucy Bronze-are you reading this?). Bring Kirby into midfield, in place of the ineffectual Stanway, to partner Walsh, as the two holding/creative midfielders, with Jess Park as the other midfilder with instructions to run at the defence, so creating space for the TWO forwards, who would be Mead playing off Russo. Normally I would say Toone would be there in place of Park but although she can score great goals, she doesn't seem to do much else in the match, so the bench for Toone.🦁 So that's what I think Wiegman needs to do to WIN-others might disagree.. (the emoji is alion, I couldn't find a lioness!)

First, the England goal should have been disallowed. 5:07 Dangerous play w 🏴 player flying in and pancaking a French defender who could have made a play on the player who fired home. I’m a men’s game this goal would never stand. Second, It’s amazing, in 2024, the Multiethnic difference between these two European squads. Both nations have a long time pro immigration policy with African and Caribbean and Asian immigrants. What is up with the British Federation that they’re not recruiting talented youth players from their African, Caribbean, and South Asian citizen pool? They do it well in track and field. The second goal was created by talented French African players working a corner to perfection. Until England football federation wakes up they will fall behind France and Spain, maybe even Holland, with their deeper immigrant pools. In the 🇺🇸 our problem is a weak youth development program that is still based on Pay to play schemes where rich kids get all the opportunities to get in front of national Federation officials and coaches. Until we get that sorted out, we’re gonna be out of the metals at the Olympics and Out in the round of eight at the World Cup

For a change the French finished their chances. This saga of poor finishing has been going on since 2015. One of those 5 or 6 Euro nations that has a technical system in place for their women, France have played some breathtaking modern football (specially with Louisa Necib & Camille Abily) over the past decade. Despite turning more physical recently, Les Bleues possess in Diani, Katoto & Cascarino a formidable attack that has speed, height & strength. Something that the Spaniards lack and have to make up with technical ability that is a generation ahead of the crowd. As a neutral, I often wonder where would technical nations like Netherlands, Spain, France, Italy & Portugal be with the finishing of Germany, England or USA?

Poor performance from England. Never got going. Millie Bright looked slow and not fit. Why Stanway has been picked is beyond me. Really need to pick up the pace next Tuesday.
