I have a doubt sir., We have separate sections for NDT ie) ASME section v for non destructive testing., Then why should we need to refer ASME sec viii div i?., I mean how we come to the conclusion that we have to refer sec viii rather than sec v.,

Sec V is only for NDT and it gives a general guideline for NDT (not acceptance criteria). However, Sec VIII is exclusively for pressure vessel and it contains everything pertaining to pressure vessel including the acceptance and rejection.

As per ASME BPVC SEC VIII DIV 1 MANDATORY APPENDIX 4 (4-3). The indication which is more the (t/10) for t less than 3mm, 0.39mm for t between 3mm to 6mm, 0.79mm for t between 6mm to 50mm and 1.58mm for t more than 50mm will be considered as a relevant indication. Below to this dimension will not be considered as a relevant indication. The acceptance criteria for a relevant indication is (t/4) for a random indication and (t/3) for an isolated indication.
