I'm Turkish, I don't know Spanish but started to learn it to be able to make up easy chat conversations in Spanish. I watched a few Spanish/Portuguese series. Even though I didn't know the language, the logic of Spanish sentences really sounded so similar to English, even more than I would expect it to be. And btw, Turkish can be a real hard language for non-Turkic language speakers. Because language's roots and logic are from Central Asia. So, if your process on Turkish is going forward slower than English or Latin languages, there is nothing to be worried about. good luck :)

Hola Anselmo, you're absolutely right...Spanish and French are more similar because they're both romance, Latin languages. I literally learned to figure out Spanish from my Latin classes in school. I live in a heavily Latino area (and being Indigenous, I get mistaken for Latino a LOT) and as far as how school has helped my real life, my Latin classes (5th through 9th grade) are the ones I'm most grateful for. Those classes have let me get paid more at my retail job since I understand Spanish, I'm just horrid at speaking it so most of the time I use a pidgin Spanglish. Mostly Spanish, but using English words and gesturing, and I always take the opportunity for a "¿Cómo se dice?" moment.

Much bueno vídeo! Very good video! Muito bom vídeo! Being a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker, and with the high volume of Latin rooted words in English, when i came to the US (not speaking English at all), I was able to learn English, and in less than a year, i was able to make myself understood anywhere, due to all the common shared words in both languages. Now, what's interesting, for most people, it seems that it is easier for a Portuguese speaker to understand a Spanish speaking person, but not the other way around.
@LearnSpanishWorld Жыл бұрын
Obrigado! Wow your English is pretty good! ...And yes, some Portuguese speakers at better at understanding Spanish than the other way around. I went to Brazil many years ago, but it only took me a 3 to 5 days to adjust my hearing. Spanish and Portuguese share more than 90% of the same grammar and vocabulary, the tricky bit for some people is tuning in their listening, but this can be achieve very quickly when exposed to the language. Saludos :)

English and spanish speakers know that both languages are similars, the perfect example is when a spanish or english speaker try to guest how to say or pronounce a word not knowing what is the real translation in the other language, for example Americans trying to guest how can be the spanish word of english word, they always add "ado, iso, edo, eso" in every english word Also in Latin America, people try to add the "ation" or pronounce the word very weird (so can be an english word) hahaha

The English language can be complex. Ocho in Spanish where in English it means eight. But we use Latin based words to describe things that mean eight. For example Octopus. We share 100% of words that Spanish speakers use in similarity that ends in "tion". Caption, construction, information and so on. I think people from Spanish speaking countries that come to America see this more than we do because they want to learn the language to communicate with the rest of Americans and see the similarities and they were probably just as surprised as how close the languages actually are. Fun fact, Fish is the same word in German and I'm sure there are a few more we don't realize we use.

The Spanish language used here is primarily that spoken in South America. In Spain a "carro" is not a car, but a vehicle drawn by animals, "cart". If you use the word "carro" in Spain, they will think you are an Amish. The most suitable word in Spain would be "coche".
@LearnSpanishWorld4 жыл бұрын
I went to Spain to complete a Post Graduate at the University of Salamanca, where people speak one of the purest forms of Castilian, and when talking about "carros" I had no problems being understood at all. Everyone understands what "carro" is when discussing vehicles. Spaniards are extremely smart people. Most of them know that in most countries. Spanish speakers use the word "carro" instead of coche ... True. In many parts in Latin America carro also means cart AND car, and I agree with you about coche. Your're right. It is the preferred word in Spain. However, I endeavour to teach my students "International Spanish" as Today, Spain is home to less than 10 percent of the world's Spanish speakers. While 90% of all Spanish spoken around the world would feel more familiar with the word Carro, then again...If you say coche in South America, they will also understand...The same thing in English...British people talk about Lorries. While US, and Australians would say Trucks. Regardless, a British citizen wouldn't have any issues understanding a person from the US talking about "Trucks"
@pulsarplay58084 жыл бұрын
@@LearnSpanishWorld Of course they will understand you, but it would probably be more appropriate to have a modern word for a modern vehicle. Carro = animals, coche = engine.
@LearnSpanishWorld4 жыл бұрын
@@pulsarplay5808 It depends. If someone is going to live in Spain. Yes! Absolutely! Coche is more appropriate....On the other hand. If someone wants to learn International Spanish which is spoken by 90% of all Spanish speakers worldwide. Probably automovil, carro or vehicle would be more appropriate words.
@dzxn37283 жыл бұрын
All the words for vehicles are cognate with English. Carro sounds like car, coche sounds like coach, our ancient horse-drawn carriages could be called a coach. Then of course there's auto. Which sounds related to automobile. Choque vehicular sounds like vehicular kaboom to me lol. Lots of words can be cognate if you tell each word's story long enough...

actually the french language would be a bit more close to english than spanish because the french is the more germinized romance language and it is where english got most of its romance vocabulary.
@MaoRatto2 жыл бұрын
@@arthurmoran4951 The pronunciation is closer to most Romance languages, but can be easily vulgar in a mater of seconds... French has the worst SPELLING SYSTEM. Where half the worlds are pronounced, merged vowel letters that make NO SENSE, hilarious homophone. If you are excited, it goes south quickly. Spanish is just SASSY which makes me smile, while French is hilariously vulgar. Also explain why is a mixing bowl getting translated as "chicken's ass "? French as a language does fail so much. When people say English broken, I tell them, look at French. I can deal with weird writing systems like Japanese, but it has a sense of order, logic, and well makes sense to write a word as it is very LITERAL. French is just absurd.
