No. The composer, a priest, was executed by the Nazis. Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote this song before his execution. 🙏❤️😢

The text was composed by the german priest Dietrich Bonhoefer, executed 1945 in the KZ. The guy who is singing the song/playing the piano composed the melody in the year 1972.

The english sing version is terrible compared to the german version, i wonder why he sound better in german when sung then in English? I love it how he sung it in german!

I agree. I think it needs some work to make it beautifully sounding in English. Changes in the arrangement and the right English Speaking artists interpretation may be in order. The words are absolutely wonderful. They ring so true to the Christian Message.
