Ellis, I think you might really enjoy hockey. Low scoring, so every goal is game changing, big hits, fast play, passionate crowds. Give that a try. And then, if you want to experience a game in the lowest level of professional hockey in the States, let me know and I’ll show you my hometown team 😂

Feels like a carnival and not a sports game, you were pretty spot on saying that it doesn't matter until there is about 5 minutes left. American stadiums/arenas are relatively small because the teams have figured out if you have a lower capacity you can charge twice as much for tickets and make more money. Same reason Juventus only built their stadium for 40K. Also, the atmosphere in LA is famously low-key. In other parts of the country there's even more distractions and the announcers sound more like radio DJs.

It’s a far cry from wandering off for a half time Bovril and a slash. Must admit though, it was good fun.

1 of the points I love to make about sports in general is how much fans of a sport think their top alltime players are known worldwide but it just isn't true. It is why guys like MJ, LBJ and Messi really stand out regardless if you like them or not. It is similar to Ronnie O'Sullivan in the UK. I was watching an interview of his a few weeks ago. As an American I had no clue who he was (this guy is amazing anyone over here should check his story out!) but you could tell pretty much everyone in the UK knew the man. Similar to Wilt Chamberlain here...he is known by pretty much everyone here and we would all assume worldwide but Ellis helps put that in to perspective. Great work as always bud!

@@CertainlyCeramic like Ellis you are another perfect example of how as fans we think everyone knows someone but in reality it is rare that someone in the sports world is known universally. After discovering Ronnie myself I'm interested to see how many Americans do actually know him. Another goat that a ton of folks have no clue about. It is like cricket for me. I have no clue who the best player is and I couldn't even name a player. Doesn't mean the sport is bad just that I personally have no clue.

It seems like regardless of the sport every few years a player hits the ground running and the fans and media of that sport build the athlete up to being the next goat of that sport. LA Lakers games are majority “plastic” fans. You want something that feels more like authentic fandom. Golden State/San Francisco is also bad. Go to Sacramento. Not a popular destination by any means but the atmosphere is fantastic. Top fans in the league and they Light a Beam into the sky that can be seen from outer space when they win (Look it up). You like cowbells as noise makers? They got that. Sacramento once broke the decibel world record. And if you time it right, you can check out Sacramento Republic FC in the same week. Sacramento Republica play in a small stadium that’s located on State Fair grounds. So in the summer when the fair is going on, you will have carnival rides as your backdrop during the match. Your match ticket gets you state fair access so you can make an entire day out of it. Bang for your buck.

Great video! Would love to see ur experience at a college basketball game (ik ik amateurs or whatever) but because they aren’t as good there is less scoring so each bucket counts more. Additionally, colleges have a lot more history than NBA teams, and there is real hate between rival fan bases. Additionally, college basketball student sections go wild especially at bigger schools or for bigger games; they will be chanting and making noise all game long like you’d expect in England. But from someone who grew up in LA and then left for college, please explore somewhere outside of LA to see americas best sports cultures. If you want to do it again, go to basically any school in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), which has schools in the southern part of the USA except for Vanderbilt University because their football team sucks and has little football culture at all. But the rest of the schools in the SEC have a rich football culture and have wild tailgate parties before the game. It's truly insane. So if you redo the college football video and go to the University of Alabama and or to Auburn University for example. You would not being getting as much hate because you want to an place that can give you an experience of college football culture.

I know all of these sports are so confusing to you Europeans with all the high scoring and silly chants. 😹 But I am glad you are taking your chances and having a fun experiences at these sporting events. I wouldn't mind seeing you make more videos on American soil, and seeing your confused face on whatever us American fans are doing their. 😭Also thx for the amazing videos you give us!

You should do a basketball game in Greece, Serbia or Turkey. Football Ultra culture in the arenas, you would probably prefer it to the American way I’d imagine.

What's up Ellis! Feel free to come in October watch a hockey game, Saturday night, Montréal vs Toronto. Scoring isn't high, this rivalry is as historic as Manchester United vs Liverpool. The Bell Center is our Old Trafford, you'll enjoy this spectacle on ice!

AFL in Australia, a long break for football in the UK coming up. Come down under and you can see the A-League and see what us Aussies play the real football. The MCG has tons of history for content and the tackles the AFL players make will be very entertaining video.

Because of the 82 games it becomes a lot less competitive and a lot of players are just going through the motions which inevitably rubs off on the fans and atmosphere but playoffs are a lot more intense, also the appeal in a lot of points is the all the different creative ways to score and the dynamic of falling behind/catching back up. You're right in that I was really annoyed the entire video lol

Dude you should totally come to a USL1 Richmond Kickers game. The kickers are one of the oldest continuously operated professional clubs in the country! They also won the best match day experience last year in the USL1.

Ellis if you want a college football game with great history and tradition behind it Texas vs Texas A&M Nov. 30th is the game to go to. It’ll be expensive but it’s the first time in 13 years they will meet on the football field, plus the game goes back to the early 1900’s when the teams have been playing the competition.

I have been to four NBA games to this day. Three of them actually have been in the last month. From the four games the Lakers one was by far the worst. Weird fans that are celebrating more that they are there than celebrating the game. Fans arriving in the third quarter, fans leaving at the end of the fourth quarter and no fan noise at all - and this was a game with good plays that they won. I am used to German and English football and man I couldn’t be more disillusioned than by the NBA games. Basketball is fun to watch and believe me German basketball games are actually intense but for the NBA you are better of watching it on TV.

I just like hearing your opinions on sporting events that take place in America, just the thought process going through the absurdities that exist in them and pointing them out with no shame or error - you're spot on with all your observations. Basketball (especially NBA) is just trading pointless baskets until the final four minutes or so. It's nauseating.

Love your channel! If you want to get the real American sports experience, you need to get outside of LA. That town is posh and transient. Go to an NFL game in Baltimore, Kansas City, Denver, or Philadelphia, go to a college football game in the Big 10 or SEC, go to hockey game in Canada, go to a baseball game in Boston or St. Louis or Atlanta, go to an ACC or Big 10 college basketball game, or an NBA game in Utah, OKC, or Boston.

Your first mistake was going to the team store at the arena to get team gear. There’s nowhere more expensive. Also did you say you went to a U.S. football game and didn’t feel the history? You went to a USC game there’s like 4 or 5 college programs with more history and arguably not stadium in college ball with more history.

The NBA 'pitch invasion' is pretty rare, although it does happen more often at NFL games...but I think the NBA experience is just too small of an area and they will get you within 10 seconds, where an NFL field is huge and you can run for a bit before they get you, so in the NBA the risk isn't really worth the reward.
